good to see you again. i am here partying with the watercolor paints. same as usual.
i’ve been walking nearly every day since late october. which, if you know me, is rather miraculous.
or extremely miraculous. depending on how you look at it.
through the desert, under canopies of palm fronds, sycamore groves, windy paths, tree-lined streets, beaches. all that. i will not break any world records for speed or number of steps walked. but oh it is a joy!
myself and the other 2 moss sisters like keeping in touch on our walks. we send pics of ourselves in various locations.
that is fun.
i am still collecting things along the way.
i’m still thinking about my time in the desert.
i took this photo of a photo at the visitor center in joshua tree. i can’t wait to get back there and walk around some more.
behold the cholla:
this is not a cactus you want to fall out of a hammock and land on top of…oh no!
and now a public service announcement about the closing of my old typepad blog and all of the classes housed therein:
on january 2nd it will have vanished into thin air. by now you’ve probably read the numerous reminders, but in case not go HERE to start.
that my friends, is all the news that’s fit to print.
happy sunday to you!

hey yo Miss Mary Ann, All those walks mean yummy photos here, so I say ‘keep on truckin’ girl. 😉 I’m gonna be shootin you an email on those classes. I enjoy the occasional inspirational boost they provide. It’s all so dang good and I’ve gotten used to their presence. And that quote from Edward Abbey. I read Desert Solitaire back in my early 20’s, so so perfect given your recent sojourn into the desert. I thoroughly enjoyed the memories that bubbled up and made me smile.

Your photos and illustrations are stunning MA! And a BIG congrats on walking for every day, that’s so fantastic! I love that you and your sisters keep in touch while walking, sharing bits and bobs along the way. I need to get off my ever expanding rumpus and walk too – but first I have physical therapy for my old back. OUCH!
Wishing you many new adventures and much joy in 2016

Keep walking right into 2016 because we all benefit from it, with all your “finds” and wonderful photos and paintings. I was about to take my camera and go for a walk, but it started snowing and blowing and I opted out. It is really cold. Enough with the excuses I was just being lazy today. 🙂

Hi Mary Ann, I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your pictures and blog! I love your comments and view of life. You give me a lift every time I read it.
Thank you so much for sharing with everyone. You are amazing!

Love your paintings and words and pictures. Say, I want to watch TICKET TO VENICE one more time, before it ends on your other site. Am I only able to watch it in that tiny screen? Maybe my computer has issues, but there isn’t an option of making it full screen. Don’t go to any fuss over it. Im just going to watch it while my guys watch football……one last time. Lori

Greetings Miss MAM! I am interested in extending Remains of the Day for 2 years! I do refer back to it often…what a great class it was/continues to be! So. Much. Detail. Now I’m making a journal that will incorporate all that junky goodness along with lots of heavy paper for sketchbookery!

Beautiful work, again, Mary Ann! You are so consistently awesome. I just love that old gnarled tree and the other b/w photos. I am watching Seahawks at the moment. They are sucking right now, and I have sworn twice already, which I don’t normally do. In awhile I will go clean the barn and bring my old mare in out of the rain. I am making navy bean soup today, which will be comforting on this rainy NW day. Yesterday I went back through some of your old blogs on gouache, and went and dug mine out to play with later tonight. I really have never painted with gouache, except to test them a bit. I just bought a cheap set to see how I like them. I kind of tend to like the transparency of watercolor, but I will give it a chance. Some of the colors you mixed up were sure luscious!
I do have a question. I took the Sketchbookery class and wondered how long it will be available? I really want to watch the whole thing again, and review it all. Have a great rest of your day! Good on you for walking!
