just a little sketchbookery on christmas eve!
little nature collections gathered during my walk this morning.
and a few other things while i’m at it…
the air has a wondrous chill and i hear that LA will be cooler than NYC tomorrow. hurrah!
the cat posse are snug in their beds. it’s cozy and warm. i think i heard sleigh bells earlier.
i added some pine to my berries. just because.
enjoy your holidays, however you choose to spend them. thanks for stopping by. i’ll just be here cookin’ up a little christmas magic.

These studies look like preliminary fabric designs. These are straight watercolor with no pencil first? You grow ever more skillful MA., nicely done. What a treat for us to observe

no pencil, not because i’m against it, just because i never learned that way and i find it really difficult to have a light touch with the pencil. easier for me to jump in with the painting.
enjoying your snow?! i’m jealous xo

MAM have you seen this website? http://blog.apple-pine.com/2015/12/sketchbook-93-treasures-and-apples.html. I thought you might enjoy it. The apples at the top remind me a mighty lot Of Van Gogh! Swoon! I signed up for Pam’s class today but am having an email issue. Mine, not hers. I shall fix it straight away! I hope…
Have a jolly day!

Merry Christmas, dear Mary Ann! A little sketchbookery sounds like a delightful way to spend Christmas Eve. Maybe Christmas day too, and the day after! Heck, let’s do nice creative things right on through to the end of this crazy year.

A strawberry TREE? What a wondrous thing! That would make such a beautiful card! Hey I know! I think you have the beginnings of a calendar there, Mary Ann, WHICH I would purchase in a heartbeat! Have you changed your style up just a bit, or is it because you have been painting in gaouche more? I don’t know what you are doing, but the results are VERY pleasing indeed! The other day I thought, wouldn’t it be GREAT if someone made a watercoloring book like those adult coloring books? And then someone DID! They are pencil line looking drawings on actual watercolor paper! She normally does watercolor wedding invitations and such, but does other things too. The artist and her husband just adopted the sweetest baby boy (Izzy), and I am soooo happy for them, after their long long wait, so I ordered all three books in celebration. I am also going to order Pam Garrison’s new online class tomorrow, for which our own MAM skillfully executed the promo video for! It worked, and I am buying! I just love all of my online inspirational artist friends, and am so thankful to them, for pouring themselves out into the world for us all. What a special and unique world, unto itself. And Mary Ann, YOU are one that I follow daily, because you are so passionate about your gift, and are ao generous in the sharing. Thank you for all of the MANY adventures in 2015! For you are a jolly good fellow(ette)! I hope you finish out this year with a flourish and start 2016 with eagerness!

Maryann, Thanks for what you have contributed to me over the past few years. I want you to know that you are loved and not taken for granted. I am so aware and admiring of someone who lives her life around her passion rather than fitting in her passions around the chores. You inspire me and many others. Wishing you the best for your holidays and for the wildest getaways ever in 2016. Love you.
