stormy saturday.
i stayed home and facetimed with sister while adding gouache sketches and veggies to my black sketchbook.
even though the rains were torrential at times, causing flooded roadways and collapsing hillsides, i was safe and dry in my hidey hole up here in northeast LA. i watched sheets of water run down the little lane next to my house. rain lashed against the window panes. out back i collected 2 big bowls of cold rainwater for wyatt. he loves it! in between downpours i let the catterpusses out to snack on some grass and pad through the puddles on the patio.
that’s it. just a small update. here’s hoping the wild winter weather in your world isn’t wreaking any unwanted havoc.

I love your work Mary Ann Moss.. all of it… you have greatly inspired me.. I’m a very visual person and I have to confess I get bored easily but never with your work. Always excites and energizes me. Pushes me to stretch and keep trying new stuff to keep ones work fresh and vibrant. I love that you are never predictable… so that’s a lot of words and I hope compliments coming out of my heart hee

Quiet winter weather over here. Frost at night, a little bit of sunshine during the day.
I finally got a canvas pad on Saturday, time to get out the sewing machine and do some Stitchbookery! Signed up when class started almost two years ago but was diagnosed with cancer and I never started. Now it seems like my health is back on track and I am ready for new creative adventures!
And after looking at your pages I need to get out my gouache, too!

Sister!!! I have just added “draw an eggplant” to the list of things we will do at Palm Springs Art retreat #8. After we draw it we can make eggplant parmigiana. Or not.

Feast or famine, it seems. Too much rain at once or not enough. I’m a pray-er, so I pray for those who are still recovering from the fires, and for any mudslides that might wreak further havoc. Mother Nature is a harsh mistress. We have had a mild winter for the PNW, but are expected to get a wee bit of snow in WA. It usually does snow at least once a winter in the lowlands. I don’t drive in snow and ice, so stocked up on necessities, made a huge pot of chili and sitting back to see what happens. Around here the weather forecasters are wrong so often that I have taken to calling them the Weather Guessers”. Seems fitting. I am fascinated by the weather and her moods, and after 65 years here on earth, the variety keeps me on my toes. Did you make a delicious dish with that eggplant and pepper? Some of my favorite dishes involve eggplant. MMMmmmm! Enjoy your stormy cleansing, but be safe. Pats for the puddy-tats. You are loved.

I survived the arctic blast in Chicago by staying home and sketching👩🏻🎨. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t have to worry about flooding or broken pipes as the weather move 90 degrees in the opposite direction. I watched two great movies, The First Man, about the space program to land on the moon, and The Wife, which I can recommend. I can’t wait for retirement when I can do this as often as I like.

I’m in love with those sketches! I’ve been back 3 times to look at Mr. glowing Grosbeak and those irresistible peppers and eggplant! You’re the best.

I like that black sketchbook; it makes your colors glow. Your drawing shows that you draw consistently and makes me realize how important that is if one wants to improve.
We have had much rain this fall and winter, but not all at once like you are having. A sunny day is like finding gold, but there is rarely more than one a week. Your pictures from the art retreat and your drawings are little bright spots on these gloomy days!
