looks like we’re having an honest-to-goodness old-fashioned LA kinda winter. yep. like the kind we used to have before the decade long drought dried everything up, the rain stopped falling, and the trees began to die. the temperatures in the mornings have been in the mid to upper 30’s and the highs have been in the mid-50’s. perfect weather for walking, rainbows, yellow clouds, and supermoons.
i’m home sick with a cold today. drinking mugs of hot tea, finishing report cards, and watching movies.
susan branch, one of my favorite old-school bloggers posted yesterday.
she mentioned a movie that i missed when it came out in 2013. ABOUT TIME – you can see the trailer here. i rented it on amazon prime and snuggled up on my couch with a cat and a box of kleenex. simply divine! hope you haven’t seen it because you’re in for a real treat.
on my bookshelf
i hope you’re dry & warm. tucked into your feather bed, the woodstove freshly filled, a plate of tea and bisquits beside you, the little candle on your windowsill flickering it’s light onto the drifts of snow outside your window. you’ve got a night of reading ahead of you. don’t doze off before getting a good long look at the supermoon through the window. and don’t spill your tea in the bed!
see you soon xo.

Lovely post pix. The stone house, kitties on the patio, raindrops and rainbows, succulents and flowers and oranges, little free libraries, journal pages. Loved them all.

About Time might be my favorite movie ever. I immediately bought the soundtrack and when my wife and I married we walked down the aisle to a song from it. Howe I think I need to watch it this weekend.
Have you read The Art of The Wasted Day? I keep dipping into it but not really reading it. I’ve just started All The Birds In The Sky which you might quite like.

Mary Ann–SUSAN BRANCH!!! I used to love her but haven’t seen hide nor hair of her in years. Now deeply into her blog. MERCI!! I also got Maria Popova’s book and will be interested to hear what you think of it. I want to really set aside some time for it, as it doesn’t seem to be a “few pages before bed” book. Loved seeing your photos and your Sèvres paintings.

subscribe to her blog and you’ll be thrilled each time a new blog post is delivered to your inbox! i am!
about FIGURING. i am listening to it via audible.

Now THAT you must report on later. I can’t begin to imagine LISTENING to this book. Or maybe it will make it less forbidding! Lemme know sometime!

I am so glad you are getting much needed rain there. I hope damage is minimal as far as flooding and mudslides. The photos are just refreshing to look at! Your back sitting area is so welcoming and charming. The cats concur. Our lower two pastures are flooded and I have mallards swimming in the pastures. Plus the driveway is partially flooded from the overflow. I had one day of extreme anxiety over the matter. I just started a book series of three books called Iris & Lily, by Angela & Julie Scipioni. The first volume has 577 pages, vol. 2 has 388, and volume 3 has 412! This could take awhile! It is a story about two sisters, co-written by two sisters. Who does that remind me of? Hmmm. I have 4 brothers and no sisters, so I hope it is relatable. I have heard it is a great series. Will let you know. It also comes in audio I think. Imagine having to record that many pages. That blue poster paint is just wonderful, and your renderings are delightful, Mary Ann. Feel better soon! Husband and I have colds too. Yuck. I drink Emergen-C and it usually helps get over it faster. For real!

Karen, I definitely want your review of these books! Keep us posted.
Karen Goetz says
Will do!
Mary Ann Moss says
your books intrigue me and i am going to look them up STAT! if you start volume 1 and stop at page 87, then start volume 3 and read it twice, then get exactly halfway through volume 2 how many pages will you have read? please show your work!
Karen Goetz says
ACK!!! Not the dreaded math!!😬. Okay, 87+824+194=1105. But I am all kinds of confused because the story is all out of order😄 (jk). In reality, I have started volume one and it has captured me already, so good start!
