hello you crazy kids! did you keep your hands and feet to yourself while i was gone?
i accidently labeled this art retreat no. 8 in my last post, but it’s actually no.7.
here follows photos of art & palm trees. swimming pools. cactus. and other palm springs art retreaty things.
at the end of every art retreat pam and carol lay all of our books out and start arranging things. i provide direction from overhead which they mostly ignore. i just like to pretend i’m helping, that’s all.
you can probably tell which pages belong to who, but if not, these are all pam’s except the black sketchbook lower left corner and the page of green leaves which are mine.
whomever makes the rental arrangements gets the master suite. i bet you will know who that head belongs to sticking out of the covers.
it’s always nice to walk around the movie colony neighborhood and take pics. especially on a bright & sunny morn.
the pages below are mostly carol’s except for the FUYO persimmon page, that’s mine, and the 3 sketchbooks in the top row which are pam’s.
the portrait sister did of me is fabulous! it got covered up. look for it over on her blog.
mornings in the desert are so beautiful.
below: black sketchbook is mine as well as one on the bottom right and the small marbled-cover one above that. sister’s sketchbook: yellow mug of coffee and plant studies with vase of flowers. rest are pams.
mine: black sketchbook, bottom right olives & cactus, small sketchbook above the black one with sister portrait. sister’s: rest of portraits, tropical leaved plants, apple with branches. the rest are pam’s.
i have more photos and art to post related to our palm springs art adventure. will do that in the coming days…

Oh those lemons looked so ripe and succulent! Beautiful photograph(s.)

Did any of those gorgeous lemons just…happen… to fall on your side of the fence? LOL. Great photos!

Love the sketchbooks. Love the plants. Love that gorgeous golden fruit against the bright blue house trim. Love those big, bright, beautiful sculptures/assemblages! Loved the post!

Beautiful art, beautiful scenery, and beautiful people! Did you get a new orchid, or were you just posing with it? Daughters have gotten me two orchids and I have kept them alive and blooming now for over a year. I thought I would kill them. That orchid you were holding is just gorgeous! In one of the pool shots is that someone’s bathing suit top on the chair? Skinning dipping again, Mary Ann? Teehee. I love all of your work on the black paper. That is a delicious look.
Mary Ann Moss says
for your information that was PAM’s bathing suit. i say no more.

I have two observations…oh how I wish I had some art sisters and that lemon tree…oh the luxury!
Mary Ann Moss says
i wish i had a fruit picker and an empty trader joe’s bag with me when i walked by that tree

I always feel so envious when I see you posting about these trips and outings with friends. I’d love to travel more and make art! This time, though, I had to stop and think, “Wait, I enjoyed a fabulous art retreat, too!” On Saturday, as we drove north on the 10, near the end of our five-day trip to make art at a friend’s house in Gilbert, Arizona, I mentioned to my art buddy about you, Sister, and Pam having your retreat in Palm Springs .
We just might make our AZ trip an annual thing, too–I hope so!
Mary Ann Moss says
kristi i think you should ABSOLUTELY make your sat. art retreat a regular gig. yes yes yes!!!
