i’m caught in a hamster wheel of spinning thoughts. calculating, planning, budgeting.
the air is bone-dry. autumn hasn’t brought cool air or moisture. the sun just keeps blazing, like my mind.
halloween came and went. candy parades parties dancing costumes. report cards.
daylight savings time split and took the light with it.
i voted. yay me.
parent conferences start this week. instead of my usual conference speel i’m going to say blah blah blah and see if anyone notices.
i started watching bex cat herder on the youtubes. following her and petey in their little camper as they trek across the west.
hope you’re good. exploring the world in your little rowboat. stopping for picnics along the shore. staying at tree forts high up in the redwood canopy. in featherbeds. scanning the sky for shooting stars.

Dear MAM~~~
Curious minds are looking out so see if you are OK , what with all the fires in your state.
If you are OK, wishing you a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.
Peace,

Hey Mary Ann-
Thank you for voting. All my people voted too…it’s what we’ve got right now. Hope the fires in the southland haven’t smoked you out. I’m about 160 miles away from the Butte Co fires but the air here has been seriously contaminated…I can’t imagine how horrible it must be for all who are closer still. On the lookout and hoping for rain as we Californian’s do this time of year. (even the ones who are transplants, like me.).
Keep the faith,
-Leese

Yo sister! I want all those cars lined up exactly like that on January 17th when I will meet you at the pre-determined location at 3:21 pm for car sketching!

I love your writing, MAM! 😄😘

oh my, I really admire your street scenes. What a great way to learn perspective. And your birds are marvelous!!
I love the early voting option but it was mostly my sense of urgency about it all that got me out to do the deed – what if I dropped dead before tomorrow and did not get to have my say?
My Dads house was destroyed in North Carolina and he sent me a photo of the RV that he is looking at to live in while he decides whether (at 89) he has it in him to rebuild. I can hardly bear the thought of him building a house now. I advocate for just hooking up to sewer, water and electricity and living in the rather swank RV!
Merci MAM

so sorry about your pop’s house that is terrible, but the RV sounds like a really good option. there are lots of people who find freedom in minimalist living. still…at 89 it can’t be easy to start over…

Thank you Mary Ann for the Bex YouTube suggestion. I am planning on doing this too in 5 yrs. when I’ll have 4 kids in college at the same time. I already have 1 that graduated from college, but he went to UCSD so he took the train home to Santa Barbara for visits. Of course the other 4 won’t be at the same school and all of them want to go out of California so I’ve been dreaming of buying a little trailer and visiting them all the time wherever they are. And then I’ve been imagining myself visiting all of my future grandchildren that way too! I think I’ll have to get one of those trailers with the little bunk beds so they can have sleepovers with Grandma out in their driveways. Oooh, fun times ahead!!
Mary Ann Moss says
diana your travel scheme sounds perfect. the standard model casita has bunk beds in addition to the regular big bed!

Just taking a moment to remind you, I am a faithful yet silent fan. Thank you for blogging.
Eventually, I’m dumping FB except to direct people to my post and going back to the blog.
