one last look at my lummi island travel journal today before finding a place for it among the others in my bookcase. i made a list last night in notes app on my phone of all of my travel journals. i have less than you might imagine. or more than you might imagine. depending.
since my first trip abroad as an adult to greece in 2000 the lummi island travel journal is my 21st.
i like to tidy and straighten. flip through one. sew a broken button closure on another. i am creating my own library of adventure stories for my future self. though the adventures are ordinary and mostly tame they are MINE.
it’s the beginning of week no. 2 in STITCH*BOOKERY and the women enrolled are thrilling me with their sewn paper treasures. some are making travel journals of past trips. others are making folded collage books out of their scraps. it’s good to see their work blooming on the screen in front of me. a hive of activity. registration closes on august 8 for this round. registration for session 2 will begin at the end of october for a late november debut.
g’night friends. hope you’re off on a great adventure, paddling somewhere mysterious, knapsack on your back, going to spend the night under a grove of fir trees. there is a perfect camper’s moon in the sky. i was just outside watching it. thinking of getting in my own canoe and setting off downstream.

Always love when you travel the world for us, and when we get to you sharing what you’ve created in your journals, I get excited. These pages are just SO YUMMY. Thanks for continuing to share your art with us.
Cheers from sunny Sweden

In the side view image of your journal, the button looked like a little ceremonial dish with smoke coming out of it to me. You know, like an incense burner. Button vessel, thread smoke. Okay, never mind. There are no ordinary adventures. I listen to wealthier acquaintances going on in a blase manner about their worldly haunts. But I’d be more excited about your travel journals any day.

Truly enjoyed your journey of Lummi Island, not far from me here in Victoria, BC. There are plenty of little islands to explore along the west coast and even the inside passage of the lovely and big Vancouver Island. I live in a wonderful and at times magical place, we are blessed with so many places to explore, lovely beaches, forests and lakes.
I don’t travel away from home, but I do short little road trips around my own island. Lots to see!
I really love your travel journal. Very very nice, all the photos, sketches and words. Very lovely to see and read. Looking forward to your next adventure.
thank you for sharing.
