chiming up over here in my corner of the vast interwebs to send you out a postcard from the land of enchantment.
i’m here in albuquerque, new mexico for the first part of my spring break. visiting (my sister) dottie & christy in their new house.
driving through jemez pueblo and the red rocks. their beautiful snowy mountains and tall trees.
onward through los alamos and bandelier national monument for a hike through the cliff dwellings of the anasazi.
quiet places with deep canyon walls like sentinels.
the wind picked up as we fanned out across the floor of the canyon. dottie taking photos, christy talking to park rangers, me fording the creek that runs through it. picking my way over the wooden planks.
i stopped to make a sketch while dottie & christy explored further into the canyon.
onward to santa fe.
just a short poke-around. i will return another time to savor more of santa fe’s charms.
we had a meal and walked around the plaza before driving the last part of the loop that took us into albuquerque.
the sky put on a show for us with it’s dusky grey clouds against a golden sky. silhouettes of mountains and trees leaning into the car windows as we sped downhill all the way to home.
it is scenic here with crystalline air and mild spring weather.
enjoying time with ma sistah. cooking, eating, yacking.
see you soon!
Unlike any place I have ever been!
Do you remember the Partridge Family’s song, “Point Me in the Direction of Albuquerque”? My brother and I thought it was “Alba Turkey” when we were kids.
Enjoy your visit!!
i don’t remember, but that’s nothing youtube can’t solve!
i’m on it
That’s one of my favorite parts of the US! NM is enchantment! and oh, all those Hatch chiles. yumyumyum

I adore New Mexico, Santa Fe especially! If you haven’t been there before, you will have to go back. The Folk Art Museum alone is worth the trip! When I go back, I plan to spend at least one whole day in than museum. You would also really like driving the High Road to Taos, I think. Beautiful mountain scenery and the most amazing little towns and churches.
I so love “traveling” along with you!
gwen!
i will definitely return and see THAT!
