this is what my sunday looks like. except i took the photo out my window of all the GREEN yesterday, today it’s raining. looking forward to a long stretch of sunny days beginning wednesday, but i do hope more rain is forecast. we need it!
maybe you have the john derian picture book? some of the images in this post are from it… will post more this week. it goes without saying that it’s absolutely fabulous.
here’s more of harriet hunter’s vintage sketchbook i originally posted about here. and here… except this is a new one i acquired. so now i have 2.
it’s dreamy and i’ll share more of it in the next post.
in other news, sister and i have settled on our summer art & nature retreat location, but the location shall not be revealed until later. it’s in a divine semi-remote location. from which we will be eating a lot of salmon. that’s all i’m sayin!
see you crazy kids soon!

One of my friends found a vintage diary at a yard sale. How I envy her (and you!). I don’t go to many thrift sales; I don’t have the patience, so I suppose I’ll never find one.
I did, however, discover these:

And I really like novels that revolve around diaries. I highly recommend “The Night Journal” by Elizabeth Crook and “The World Below” by Sue Miller (which doesn’t contain ‘diary entries’ but is based on one).

There’s lots of lovely salmon if you’re headed where I think you might be headed! And tall trees, tidal pools, lots of cute critters to sketch – and I’m loving the photo of your gorgeous back garden – WOW!! I got started on the Blurb book of the UK trip yesterday; it took me a few hours to figure out how to use the Blurb interface without crashing it, how to insert photos without it changing layouts on me etc. but now I’ve ‘got it’, I’m really enjoying it. Fantasies of many past vacations that need to be made into books, fantasies of future trips to be made into books, magazines – this is very cool indeed.

the Derian book is among my favorite current escapes. i’m taking a facebook break and trying to avoid stress. ha. if i was to make a list of positive and joy filled activities at the top would be:
a. binge watch West Wing
2. binge read your blog.

I want your Sunday. Mine started out with Cooper and Max (my pups) flying off the bed barking and howling, jumping all over the place at 5AM. This was after I had stayed up late painting . It took me a moment to realize we were having a little earthquake. Not the way I had my Sunday planned. So I decided to clean the house and paint some more. Your Sunday looks much more my style. Reading about your summer plans, mmmmmm salmon. I think I know, maybe……. In hope so! More clues
paleezzz. Happy to see the kitties in your photos.
