our annual art retreat ended all too soon. how good it is, how necessary, to do this. concentrated time spent drawing & painting. intoxicating!
this year we added a few walks in joshua tree national park to the mix.
back at the homestead we were surrounded by the desert’s beauty. our big table was set up in front of a picture window that looked out onto snow-capped mountains.
even in the higher elevations at the park there was some snow. the atmospheric river event last week deposited feet of snow in local mountains. on the drive into palm springs today to deposit sister at the airport for her flight home, we saw sand in the foreground and towering white mountains in the background. so pretty!
random thoughts: mid-january already. wyatt gets his stitches out on thursday. more storms coming this week. my front yard is brilliant green. stay warm!

Now that you’ve been on art retreats to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree do you have a preference for one over the other? Just curious. I live in the high desert and know how cold it can get in the winter. It looks like it was down right nippy in Joshua too. Love the photos, the desert, the art, really all of it. I’ve tagged along on all 5 retreats with you guys…loved every moment of all of them.

I’m new to your site. A dear friend from Minnesota suggested I review it. Oh my what a wonderful way to start the day. Your vision into our world and translation of it is a talent I am grateful to find.

I actually recognized your sister in this painting. You should really do a retrospective post starting with your beginning paintings of her all the way to this one. I’ll admit, the first couple made me guffaw. In a loving kind of way, of course.
