hello friends!
here in pictures is what i’ve been doing since my last dispatch.
been admiring furry plants, and everything else on my walks. oh it is good to leave the house bright and early each morning and head, not to school, but out on an adventure!
i’m trying not to expire in the 100 plus temps. a massive dome of high pressure has dropped down over the entire american southwest and we are being bathed in a brittle intense heat. whew. 5 days ago i had to turn on the heat in the car as i headed out for my morning jaunt at the park. now, this.
still eating peaches.
still pouring everything i’ve got into OH MY GOUACHE! the facebook group is hopping and i love checking in and yacking with everyone. everyone is painting & playing. kicking arse and taking names. i’m here painting my heart out and finishing up the last of the videos. unlike in past classes i release videos 2x per week so everyone is able to process better and i think it’s working. there’s never been a more active bunch. holy smokes! then again, i’ve never started a class with a facebook group from the get-go. who knew it would be so active? if you’re thinking of joining, you still have time before left i shut the doors on july 4th. if painting with gouache isn’t your thang no explanations needed, i get it! but if you want to get in while the action is HOT, i suggest you do so now. This is the only “live” session. speaking of which…if you’ve registered but not joined the facebook group, what are you waiting for?! get your tail over there! you gotta see what your fellow chimps are doing.
snuck off to the beach for quick slumber party with my cute friend joyce. it was a greatly needed break from online class production. we painted and played for 24 hours before i climbed into my chariot and headed back to the gleaming metropolis.
now i begin my mental preparations for sweden. i’m dying to immerse myself in that cool green wonderland. still haven’t started the travel journals, but that’s next on the agenda.
and more than ever i can’t wait to get back into regular blogging. soon enough. soon enough.
i found this wonderful video…such poignant interviews. you may need a tissue.
see you soon! keep me posted on your summer hijinx! xo

Wow, what a wonderful video. All the feelings…
Thanks MAM for the twice a week videos. Loving class, loving not having to wait a whole week for more goodness to appear!
Now to go remember some memories.

So much beauty here Mary Ann. The video was so touching…no words. Your photos are print worthy. I wish I may, I wish I might, make it to the sea someday soon. It is almost impossible for me to leave home at this time. Actually, I haven’t had a day off or a vacation in over 5 years, for reasons I won’t get into here. I miss the beach the most. That photo of the surf calls out to me. So, I really do live vicariously through you, and others.
I have been posting photos for Oh My Gouache on Instagram only for now, just bc it is fast and everything I do lately is done quickly or not at all. I am on the FB page though, and really enjoying the fun and photos of everyone’s work. So much talent! I finally got my waxed linen yesterday, so will stitch my book in the next couple of days. FINALLY. I will post on Instagram. I have been painting in gouache and have several pics to post there too. Life sure has been hectic lately, with engagement parties, graduations, pet issues, etc. The faster I go, the behinder I get! Ever feel that way? I always thought that life slowed down as you got older. Not true. WE slow down, but life just keeps on with it’s hectic pace and we are just trying to keep up.

Hi, MAM, I’m working on my London journal (the one from your Ticket to Venice) class. Slowly! Will post in the flickr group and on FB when I take photos of it. Right now I’ve been posting a few photos on my FB page. Going through the huge amount of photos I took is a bit overwhelming. I think I am also going to make a Blurb book (my first). I used to buy regular photo albums from Light Impressions, but it seems like there are so many more options now that we are in the digital age.
I want to be in front of that ocean!

The cactus army on the march. And Oooo the ocean rolling in, lovely. Nice to know your summer is off to a beautiful, relaxing start.
