how nice to stretch out into the weekend. a reminder of long days and late nights to come. enough time for a facetime art session with sister where we made experiments and took notes of our findings.
time for another may walk. grey and misty.
i saw billowy white blossoms.
pale green rimmed with a crown of pale yellow.
home to shoot more videos for class!
this is my permanent filming station since april. i’ve mentioned recently that i love my new camera bought especially for online class production. no additional lighting needed or mics. hallelujah! it’s a canon vixia HF G20. worth every cent. i’m using a vanguard alta pro tripod and a photek tripod extender. i recently stopped using imovie and finally bought final cut pro x editing software. i also use an app for FCPx called compressor 4.2.2. i don’t include the links because i’m not compensated in any way for any of the aforementioned products and i don’t necessarily recommend for the casual user.
i’ve been making online classes since 2009 and it’s taken a lot of trial and error to find the right equipment. someone asked about platforms in the comments recently so i’ll share about that too. i use wordpress dot org, and not a service specifically for distributing online content (like ruzuku.) online classes can of course also be hosted on regular password-protected blogs just as i used to do. there are many options.
thaz it! not a tutorial per se because i don’t have time or inclination for that, but i wanted to share because i would have loved this kind of information a few years back. the trial & error method can be a pain in the arse. ya know?
i’m off for a bit of time travel before bed.
see you crazy kids soon!

Lovin’ the views from here, I’m quite fond of them thar cacti which always makes me smile. Your set up looks greatMary Ann. You’ve always done a wonderful job with your class vids and content. Everything you’ve used thus far for video production has served you well. I’m happy as a clam for you that you’ve given yourself better tools to do the job. You rock Mary Ann.

I love seeing the flowers that I’m familiar with through your eyes. Makes me see them in a new way. Especially the cacti and succulents.

Very interesting shadow experiments, Mary Ann. I like them!! And the flower is so pretty! In the photos I see a hollyhock. I love them, but they don’t love me. I don’t know if it is the NW weather, but they always get that leaf blight when I have tried to grow them. They are my favorite flower to see in paintings. So quaint and charming, they are! I also LOVE that single white blossom amongst the dark green leaves. Elegant!
It was so generous of you to share your knowledge of videography. I probably won’t be doing it, but i know others who are so inclined. And who knows….I just might someday. And the info is right here. Have a great day being curious! Stay curious…
