i skipped off to the park mid-week for an afternoon frolic. the week in the classroom will end with a bang and then i’ll be off into the wild blue yonder. bound for a week by the mighty pacific. i’m terribly wonderfully excited as indicated by the number of times i’ve mentioned my upcoming trip. can’t be helped! i haven’t made a great escape in a few months… not since my trip to joshua tree, where i had the unfortunate run in with a hammock and a yucca plant.
in other news:
i’m reading a great book. THIS ONE. feels good to be engrossed in a book again.
my orioles have returned! spotted the first one on monday. they’ll be here until august. stealing the hummingbird nectar and squawking their little hearts out. love those guys.
hope you’re swell. with gobs and gobs of things to look forward to…
see you soon.

We been watchin the brazen orioles up in the honeysuckle tree pretending they don’t know they are part yellow and every color between that and orange. It bugs when the woman bird and the man bird look the same, because then I can’t tell which one has more panache. It’s important to assign panache a gender, otherwise it’s just self-involvement. Life is things to look forward to, or nothing.

Have such a lovely vacation! I was home (Los Angeles) two weeks ago and had to make a stop at Dick Blick. I came out with one of those Fabriano sketchbooks in lime green. I’m anxious to try it out. I’m looking forward to your coastal posts!

I’ll just be sighing over here, dreaming of flowery parks. Another interesting book? My fiction and non-fiction towers of books to be read are growing to the point that they’re threatening to tip the earth off its axis.

Great art and photos, as usual Mary Ann! That book looks good. I never want to run out of books to read. I went through a long Chick-Lit phase, but that’s been over for a while. They don’t even interest me anymore.
Have a wonderful vacay!

Enjoy your trip! I’ve never seen the pacific in my whole life. So I hope you will report back with some lovely pictures of the ocean!!!
3 more work weeks for me, then I am heading to the north sea shore. Can’t wait. Oceans are addictive!

Hi Mary Ann. Thank you for the post. Noticed you showed “The Language of Flowers.” There is a fiction novel with same title. Read it a few years ago and would recommend. It was a recommended book at one of the libraries and I was pleasantly surprised. I’m going to order Elizabeth Is Missing. It sounds like a good one. Happy St. Patrick’s day!

You are SO lucky to have the Orioles stay through the summer. Here, in Michigan, they stop by for a short stay on their way through to I know not where and gift us with their beauty! Love your posts. Thank you for being so delightful!
