Everything in this post makes me smile. You travel your path with an air of fun, frolic, family and friends. Who needs anything else?
The squirrels are super! Very hard to draw, IMO. How is the succulent propagation a disaster? Looks good to me.
Tomato soup/grilled cheese sangies are my favorite comfort food. Kraft American melts best. I loved it on Oroweat’s Dutch Dill Rye, but they no longer bake that loaf. So sad. Delish with a corned beef sangy also.

Hi Mary Ann–I love your squirrel drawings and your other drawings, plus your fun sense of humor and your stories about what the kids in your classes say and write to you. I love squirrels and am endeavoring to become a squirrel whisperer! xo

I had never seen black squirrels before moving to New York. They’re beautiful. And your squirrels and Joyce are foxy looking!

We have a bird feeder right outside of the bay window in our kitchen. It makes a most interesting spot to observe the critters that come there to eat. For the buffet, doncha know. Usually before any birds have gotten the word that I have filled the feeder, the squirrels come to check things out. How they know before the birdies know, I do not know. Anyhow, they are greedy little devils and commence pawing through the edge of the feeder looking for their favorite bits, the sunflower seeds. In their zeal to get to the treasure they invariable knock a bunch of the ordinary seeds out on the ground, which actually is OK since several of the birds who eventually show up are ground feeders and don’t mind pecking around underneath the feeder. That would be the mourning doves, cardinals and sometimes blue jays, sparrows, wrens and sometimes finches.
The funniest sight in the world, however, is to watch those devilish squirrels hang by the toes with their heads down, chowing away on the sunflower seeds. Somehow, they manage to grasp the seeds with their front paws, break open the seed, get out the good part, drop the husk and by some miracle get it chewed a bit and then swallowed. We marvel nearly every day how on earth they do that….all while hanging upside down! Plus, it is very entertaining and makes it almost acceptable that they rob the feeder and manage to suck it mostly dry in one day. The birds come along later and clean up off the ground, so I guess it all works out in the end.
Glad you had such a nice break and did fun stuff and had a furry visitor to entertain you, too. 🙂 Cheers….

Love the freedom in your sketches and all the color, I think I am still afraid of color. You make this such a fun place to come and learn!
