what pure pleasure there is in drawing & coloring from black and white line drawings. dover has an endless supply. i'll draw from anything. life, tv, pictures, labels on jars & bottles, magazines, books. my inner sketchaholic does not discriminate. when i taught 2nd grade i would often have my students bring in coloring books to copy. good for learning hand-eye coordination, studying negative space, measuring distance between object A & B, and so on and so forth.
paper maché field mice mounts are also fun. anything goes.
over and out from moss cottage friends. where the women are strong, the cats are good lookin', and all the ideas are above average. xo

These are FANTASTIC! Love the field mice mounts. Definitely better than deer…or bear… or fill-in-the-blank.
Also, what kind of pen did you use for the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel sketch in the previous post? Fantastic line work in the most amazing sepia. I’ve gotta have that pen.

Monday miles of smiles, that is what I got from reading your blog just now. What a great way to start out the work week. I’ve got a stack of ‘sketch’ fodder so I feel as though I am in good company, photos, mag pics, some stuff I borrowed from Ma nature, I don’t think she’ll mind…….(sigh) I want to stay home and sketch but duty calls, or something that looks like ‘duty’ a side job I can’t turn down, I’ll be paintin’ some walls and doin’ a wee bit of dusting and shinin’ up around the dance studio. Can’t turn my back on a few extra buckeroo’s…..get er done and then it’s back to playin’ and sketchin’……

These pages radiate your joy; love the granulations in the shadows of the ice cream containers and the little gem of a seascape is beyond wonderful.

That beach painting is amazing – it feels like I’m THERE just looking at it. Oceans are so mysterious and hard to capture in feel; you way got it. Update: this weekend, today, finally, I have poured up my paints into a palette (the kind you recommended) and am awaiting their drying. I’m perusing sketching books – something suitable for bad blind mice – I mean contours, of course. Recycling and repurposing from other bookish projects. Life has rather gotten in the way of starting Sketchbookery, but I am feeling that calm has arrived finally. Sweet dreams, MAM.

Well, that should have been face up and tell off a Labradoodle. The mouse was about as big as the dog’s foot. Sassy and brave.

Field mice mounts! I once saw a field mouse tell of a Labradoodle. The mouse won!
