my full pans and new metal palette arrived for my gouache. yippy hi yi yo!
i commenced to mixing colors. just call me madame mix-a-lot. stir stir stir swirl swirl swirl scrape rinse. next!
i decided to mix up a few new colors in an effort to keep my white gouache pan cleaner. actually i’m going to have 2 white pans. one for mixing, the other one will only be touched by a squeaky clean brush. no contaminants allowed!
i’m using my holbein gouache and also a dutch brand i picked up while i was in amsterdam.
spring break has begun. i’m heading off to the woods with my brother and sisters and their partners. we’re staying in some cabins for a few days.
to tide you over i have some links to share that are so good, they’re edible. go see for yourself. if they don’t make you want to break out your watercolors and sketchbook i don’t know what will!
first off, the link pam shared with me the other day. she knows i’m a blubbering fool over watercolorists lately. HERE are 5 fantastic watercolor tutorials by the hugely talented yao cheng. i can’t wait to get home and play with layering, mixing, and blending. can’t. wait.
a couple of weeks ago i ran across lucile’s kitchen on etsy. lucile prache is a french artist who lives in paris. so so good!
back soon! talk amongst yourselves till i return.

Sounds like a lovely retreat in honor of Mama Moss for all of you and I will send warm thoughts of her crooked smile and bright eyes down to y’all in Arkansas.
IN the meanwhile, I don’t understand what is happening to me. Given a half hour to myself, am I working on the novel? Writing a blog post? Even a FB update?
NO. I am watercoloring or gouaching in or a combo of both. My dream is to start a Cape Cod monthly newsletter like so many Parisian ex pats artists are doing.
Wouldn’t you like to see paintings of fried clams and lobster rolls? Sailboats and dinghies? Waves and clouds?

The glass vase looks good! Welcome to Arkansas – don’t know where you’re headed, but the weather in the NW corner is supposed to be nice for the next week. Hope you have a good trip.

Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Your watercolor and gauche adventures are enticing, tempting and just down right delightful. I’m sneaking away, strapping on my wings and will quietly do a low fly over…I’m in need of quiet getaway and yours sounds wonderful. I’ve been playing with all of my fabric the last few weeks, making journals and enjoying watching reruns of all your class vids; ROD, FTB, TTV, and all the rest of em too as I sew, gather and mix and match fabrics, creative fun in the original, one of a kind, authentic, Mary Ann Moss way.
