my other books were drying so i had to go hunt for a nice piece of sugary white paper to paint my tuberoses on. found! a class demo from my bookbinding and visual journaling class FTB. if you're looking at that journal and going, 'you did NOT make that in class,' it's because i gave it a makeover last year. the book, not the class. a little voice in my head told me to get out the orange duct tape and the paper pinwheel and start taping. so i did. it's the visual journal i turn to when i need a collage fix.
here is my unstyled wreck of an art table with my vase of old tuberoses i waited a little too long to paint.
not very appealing are they? except to me they were! and i hadn't done a gouache painting in awhile. in all their frumpiness of wilted petals and browning buds that wouldn't open i saw something worthy of being captured.
and then because it's my journal and because i am me, i wrote something insightful & wise.
if you see the easter bunny please send him to my house. i need a chocolate bunny for something. really bad.
Aw sad the flowers didn’t open. Here’s a florist trick: Freshly trimmed stems and water changes every day, and use warm water! They don’t have the roots anymore so you got to force em to drink 🙂
Does it need to still have ears? Just askin.
Just letting you know that I have had a time of it with Typepad these past few days-to tune your blog in, that is.
But now, it’s ok! Hale-luia!
OMG! LOL! I’ve would have thrown those flowers out but, you were still able to capture their beauty…….that ‘s awesome!
mary ann, this is so smile making… the finished painting, that is. : )
xoxo
HA! Made me laugh and believe me, I needed that. Rock on Mary Ann. hugs, Donna
You made the dying roses gorgeous and full of life!
