i found a photo of a fig. and i painted it.
then i decided to paint these poms over an ill-conceived and executed sketch. you know, to hide it.
and then while on the interwebs i stumbled upon this photo of a thick slab of cake encased in a fluffy cloud of frosting. then the monkey climbed on my back. and wouldn't get off.

Wow! Your sketches are quickly moving into finished paintings. Love, love the fig in particular. I once had a dream that I was in a clearing surrounded by pine trees. There was a little cabin, but there were NO fig newtons in it. So I stood in the front yard and waited. I knew all would be well when the fig newtons arrived. I kid you not; that was a real dream.

Come over and let’s have a cake making, drawing, eating party! And when we are done with the cake we’ll move on to another subject.

ADORE. I also couldn’t help but notice you were still alive and well in August, having crossed out 8/1 and replacing it with 9/1. Good sketches, all. Enjoy the weekend sweet woman of the paint brush and pen.

I love the look of the seemingly random lines behind the drawing – a new trend will be starting, mark my words 😉

Your figs look delectable; you really captured the colors beautifully.
Re: cake. I love cake! For our “first day of school cake” (any reason to celebrate, right?!) I used a zebra striped box mix from “Duff” which was insanely light. Like I’d made homemade. The way it stripes is super cool! And the homemade cream cheese frosting had them licking the spatula (me too!).
