an artroom sketch this week. and while i was at it, something from the garden.
i was sitting in my studio last night and got a wild hair up my arse to sketch my table. so i grabbed a sharpie and went to town. i NEVER draw with a sharpie. especially a big fat sharpie. but i did. and boy am i glad i did! cause it was fun. it was fast. it was loose. it was different.
i saw something earlier in the week about negative space and decided to just paint in the background of my quick sketch.
and then my wildly musical friend natalie facetimed me to play some new songs she wrote.
except she’s way cuter than this. but i did this in like 7 minutes. maybe 6. probably 5.
which is why.
one of her legs looks like a chicken bone and the other looks like it’s swollen.
so friends, if you were thinking of facetiming me. you might want to rethink things. just sayin.

Love the negative painting of the garden fleurs,,,watery background heaven! It’s great to try new things, tools, paint, brush strokes, you never know what happy accident you’ll find. Keep up all this creative work/PLAY, it’s good for the soul and good for us!

While we are on the subject, I just finished The Art of Hearing Heartbeats. I think that you might love this book as much as I did. And, now I’m inspired to get back to sketching.
Happy what is Monday in my mind.

“Urban Sketching” is great, but even better, in this librarian/artist’s humble opinion is “An Illustrated Journey” by Danny Gregory. I found both quite inspiring – made me want to put the small watercolour set in my journal bag and get out there! Love the maple sketch.

I’ m totally inspired by your addition of sketching to your journals, might just have a go myself! I picked up a copy of Urban Sketching from Gabriel Campanario, have a look, it might be something for you Mx
