that storm of the last few days that draped her curtain of rain over los angeles has passed. my garden is grateful and i guess i am too, but i wish she would have stuck around longer. bah.
we hired franco the caretaker to take us to a couple of umbrian villages – montefalco & bevagna. when i post my journal pages you’ll be able to read about that extremely excellent utterly awesome trip. i could write an entire chapter just on that one drive over hill and dale. umbria blossoming like a flower as we drove down her lanes and through her plush fields.
last night i sewed my signatures into the covers of my travel journal which i made before departure. now i’m adding a few photos and adding some more sketches on the half-dozen or so blank pages i brought home.
i’ve awoken from my long winter’s nap and ideas have begun to take shape in my big ponderous head. and one giant idea in particular is rattling around. demanding attention. i’ll keep you posted, gentle reader. yes i will.

ponderous head? really?
ha!
I’m using that. It’s too poetic.

Oooh goodies – I love when there’s things brewin’ in your noggin’! I am thinking this is even more exciting than a regular class – I’m thinking its the premier of Mary Ann Moss Lifestyle Institute for the Gentle Instruction of Artistically Inclined Gentlepersons of a Certain Age. Forty six is a good age. I’m forty six. I’m up for this! Loving the ‘rad filters’ lord, but I wish I knew Photoshop.

I love your photos and what you do to them. Is that some kind of tilt and shift action on the bridge photo? Have you ever checked out the Bakamatsu Koshashin generator? http://labs.wanokoto.jp/olds

Ooh, all those poppies! So beautiful! Luckily we’ll be having some of our own soon, but not as many as over there. I love all your Umbria pictures, I feel I would love getting lost there on many hikes.
And you leave us with a bit of a cliffhanger, I want to know about the big idea in your head, I want to know now! 😉

Thanks for sharing your lovely shots Mary Ann. Can’t wait to see your travel journal. Like one of the previous posters I am very curious about what you have cooking right now. Maybe a new class? I need some journal goodness… And what better lead to follow then yours when it comes to journaling.

I am just amazed at how much traveling you do! How many trips do you take each year? I wish I could do a fraction of your traveling, but for now I’m content to fill in with your adventures. xo

hi jacqueline!
they arent instagrams. they came straight out of photoshop…using the TOTALLY RAD filters. love them!
but if you want to blog with your instagrams just go into your photos on your ipad, email them to yourself, pick up that email on your computer, and blog away. OR you can blog from your ipad with your instagrams – they are all in your camera roll. i use the typepad email feature to do that.

Yes…giant idea in your ponderous head. MAKE it happen !!!!! Good to have safety net of teaching school next year. But something grand is brewing. Do it!!
Best for me of your trip were the pics of wisteria hanging like drippings of fairy magic, the worn table that rests outside on the porch, the cats… all the cats. And the pics of food and wine. I feel immersed by your words and pictures. Today in Wisconsin is glorious . I created rust dyed fabric in the woods by winding the cloth around rusted farm machinery.
Each day I anticipate more pictures and words. So… Franco…. LOVE his face. Lucky for you to meet him .

MAM thank you for sharing your photos each day of the stunningly beautiful Italian countryside. Your photos capture the essence of everyday life in such a beautiful way.

I love your photos. Makes me feel like I am there. How do you get your instragram photos up to your blog? Is there an easy way?
Susie LaFond says
Between you and your sweet sister, I can look either way and be surrounded by the beauty that is Umbria. It’s breath taking even via this small square viewing receptacle. I could look all day and never tire of studying every square inch by square inch. I can’t imagine by being in the midst of it, actually right there, close enough to touch and gently plod upon, far beyond my reach but ever so close because you take the time to share and I consider that a gift! Thanks oodles, toodles for now. xxooxxx

What fantastic images you captureed. You have a way of getting to the soul of where you are and allowing us to view what you feel what you see. I haven’t traveled but through you I do. Enjoy and thanks. Glad you extended your time, enjoy

Polizia Municipale…I knew it had to happen! The Moss sisters in the pokey! 🙂
Seriously, I love seeing the other side of Umbria. I also loved the cobbled-together cord for that wall lantern. Reminded me of things that our gardener ‘created’ in Thailand.

I hope that giant idea in your head is a new class….wishing and hoping and praying. Have a great week Mary Ann.
