hello cute people! this is my one and only post from umbria till I get home. sister has been posting daily though so go check her out for more goodies – her link is in my about section. Anyway these photos all taken from my ipad.
a path through the monteluca woods takes us to this bridge which we cross to get to town.
it’s gorgeous here with panoramic vistas from our farmhouse, but v. spotty Internet so hopefully this will go through this evening. The walk to town is longer and more difficult than expected, but I’m managing it and its awfully scenic. I hate the last flight of stairs before we get home. Takes every last bit of strength and fortitude to power up the last hill.
we love being in the country. The wisteria and lilacs are in full bloom and fill the grounds with perfume. heady scents. dreamy views.
building fires at night. love to look out over the valley and town below from the living room windows.
I’m instagramming many times a day because its fast and easy. you can click on my IG link in the nav bar if you want to follow our umbrian adventure that way.
hoping for an impressive thunderstorm tonight. we’ll just be here sketching, cooking, and staring out the windows.
bye till may 1st!!!

Can’t wait for you to get home and show us your new journal!! I am thankful that you send us such wonderful pictures of where you are. They let those of us that don’t travel, see the world through such wonderful eyes. I hope you don’t mind that I save them and put them on my screen saver, and set my timing on the screen saver to 1 min. so that I can have a slide show of all the great things you do and places you go. It is so wonderful what you do.

Oh, I read you wouldn’t be back until 5/1 but just had to pop over to your blog to see if you had by chance checked in! To my delight indeed you had! Now I will link onto Carol’s site & get that Instagram feed going as well. Settle in & take in all the beauty! The pictures really do look real-so beautiful! I have a friend in Paris who is posting pics & can’t get over how much I enjoy seeing the adventures. It creates so many thoughts and ideas of what it must be like to be there?! As always can’t thank you enough for sharing your wonderful photos! Enjoy! Safe travels, looking forward to seeing more when you return!

Hello from afar!!! How will you ever tear yourself away from such a place?
If you need me to pack up the kitties, and head on over just send word.

Mary Ann, as I look at the beautiful wisteria, I cannot help but think that nature is truly a healer. On NPR the other day they were discussing whether nature’s beauty has a purpose or if it just simply happens to be that way.
As I go on my walks and pray for the people affected by the Marathon bombings in the city I live near and love, I am certain that nature is healing, comforting, hopeful.
I am truly happy that you and your sister are sharing time together nestled in such a fantasy like setting. Enjoy your days. More than ever, enjoy each other’s company.

Hello to you both from La Borne!
Everything looks like a dream sequence (one of mine) – it’s almost as good as going there too. Glad you’re having such a lovely time.

Lovely, Mary Ann. The color of the Wisteria is indescribable( I hope I’ve spelled this right ). I am following Carol’s posts too, but guess what? I went to your Instagram, and it worked….I actually got there, and enjoyed your pics, and it didn’t take 20 steps to arrive there. Yea! What a gorgeous place; it looks like it belongs in a fairytale. Your very own, ” Once upon a time…”.
