hello. here i am. right where you left me.
i returned from Venice on monday.
which, if i'm being completely honest. was unbelievably excellent.
a fairy tale complete with swirling fog, cool air, a little rain, more sun than i expected, delicious food, long meandering walkabouts through storied streets, gazes out across the grand canal which is what i was doing on this last night of mine in venice. watching that golden moon grow big and beam into my window.
now i'm home and contemplating a smooth new surface for the life of mary ann moss age 49.9
this requires much thought from a reclining position.
where i have surrounded myself with a mountain of the most intoxicating italian paper.
and when i get up i am going to drag myself to the market for provisions
and then scoot home and prepare some moroccan meatballs.
and then after i am sufficiently nourished and rested
i am going to come back here. this very place. and share some trip pics with you.
yes i am.

I got a new imac from Santa and I’m just checking to see if this thing will let me leave a comment since my other computer was not so accommodating. Welcome back and Happy New Year MAM!

so this is me, I’m pulling up a chair along side ya just because it’s the thing to do, then I’m settling for long, delightful stories about your trip, the stuff ya saved in that secret place for just the right moment; I know there are moments from a trip that one must savor and allow to simmer before they are shared with others, some experiences just must steep and brew to be properly enjoyed. I’ll keep an eye on the cat posse and wait while you get provisions and I won’t be moving until you are ready to tell the rest of your Venice stories. I can’t wait to here more. PS. I’m so so very happy I got to take the journey with you in TTV, twas my favorite place to hang out during the holidays and was so sweet to come home to after obligatory visits with family and friends. Part of me is still in Venice watching that great big ole moon over the water. SIGH!!!!

I’ll bet it is a bit of a challenge to get the pre-Venice MAM and the post-Venice MAM to stop circling each other and settle down to harmony??? What a wonderful January task!!! Welcome home……………

Welcome home! I loved our trip to Venice — completely filled my travel journal (with photos of my 2007 trip to Italy after the recent Venice part). I’m so glad for you that you don’t have to go back to work!!! for a long while anyhow…or maybe forever. And I mean work, as in a J-O-B where you sell your soul to make a living. Enjoy your time to yourself.
I just read a mystery called The Biggest Liar in Los Angeles, by Ken Kuhlken. It was okay, not fantastic. But the best part was that it takes place in L.A. during the 1920s, in Echo Park, and Aimee Semple McPherson is one of the players. It took me back to being in L.A. in the 1950s, when it was a lot closer to the 1920s than to L.A. today.
