I recently discovered BRAIN PICKINGS WEEKLY sunday newsletter. it’s where i found the video above. and also where i found THIS list of great books on reading & writing. This week there is a short piece on how cats boost your creativity. but we already knew that. didn’t we?
sunday. it is going to be a bright warm day. there is a patina of yellow-gold morning light out back.
i am watching hummingbirds.
{click on these pics!}
and when i’m finished with this post i am turning off the computer and turning all of my attention towards… nothing.
after about an hour of staring into space i’ll be ready to rev my motor into high gear and start cycloning through my art room.
i have ideas to build!
Bees and hummingbirds and Molly Crabapple, oh my!
tap tap tap………….is that the future being constructed over there????
hope your sunday was wonderful and that you built many ideas! xo
Yeah for naturally feeding the humbingbirdies!
Lovely lovely movie… Wished I could draw like that. The narration is perfect too and very wise. It will be no surprise that I am in the camp of the extraverts. Now stop fiddling Mary Ann and start building like a crazy fool. We are here to support you in whatever adventure you go on. P.S. I churned out another ROD book yesterday afternoon. All of a sudden, whizz, watching your little vimeo movies, you and me in my craftroom. The next best thing to the real Moss in da house!
I LOVE Brain Pickings….but I am in danger of going bankrupt ordering books they review … 🙂
Hi Mary Anne,
I love the photos and the birds and the flowers and your blog. I ‘lurk’ here frequently. Someday I will take your “Remains of the Day” class. Brain Pickings is a great website and I love their articles. I am also a teacher in LAUSD going thru some struggles at this time. My ear is available to you if you need it.
xo

Lavender? I’ve never seen it with the droopy tops – they look like little ropes. Mine just drops the purple and stands stiffly. Makes a nice setting for the hummers (sugar junkies, my father called them).
Molly Crabapple – genius! Mary Ann Moss – genius! Hope you had a beautiful day with the hummingbirds 🙂
Yea! Go Mary Ann! I’m cheering you on!
Awesome video and that book list is great. I’ve read The War of Art and it’s a gem of a book and a quick read.
Love every single little thing on the video, her voice, the cartoons, the message, the book, and the name Molly Crabapple.
Hummingbirds and lavender, such a sweet combination.
Unfortunately for me, I have about three hours of homework that will zap any and all creativity in me.
I love “Brain Pickings”! Good luck with whatever changes may be coming your way!
