Have you seen those crocheted stones all over kingdom come? During lunch today I found a tutorial over at the purl bee. I didn't have the right size yarn or hook, but I do have plenty of river & beach rocks that need sweaters. I got a little confused with the directions and since Joyce wasn't around I improvised.
I can't wait to try again with a thin cotton crochet thread. Won't that be nice? In the meantime that stone is happy. I can just tell. and the other stones…they're jealous.

I’m going to send you a link to a woman in Mexico who has a blog with her fabulous art, and her obsession with crocheted stones. She does them up in very fine crochet thread…beautiful. Nice work on yours, and good for you for attempting something totally foreign to you. Most would be very intimidated.

I can’t believe you are a beginner crocheter. I just finished my first dishcloth (I do not set high goals for myself) and it is a bit wonky. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with. And if you look up craftyminx she offers free crochet videos if you find yourself needing a fresher on stitches and Joyce isn’t available.

I am seriously impressed with your ability to teach my sister to crochet. I tried to teach her to knit several years back with less than optimal results. I think you can NOT be related to someone when teaching them a craft. Wait…. she has taught me a lot of things about art. Hmmmm I am going to need to come out and observe your teaching style. I think I could learn some stuff from you.

Right away, I thought of the doorstop for the bathroom at my grandparents’ cottage – it’s a brick with a crocheted sweater very similar to that you’ve made for your rock, only not quite as fancy (but don’t tell the doorstop, it’s very sensitive). It’s been there as long as I can remember, we’re talking half a century, folks! I wish my grandmother were still around so I could show her your rock, she would love it! Your clutch looks awesome, can’t wait until it’s done!!

Smiling H U G E. All I can think about is my pet rock way back in the 70’s. It would have been so much more happy if he’d had a sweater to curl up in and then bask in the sunlight. I can see this rock is simply smitten with it’s sweater, wanting to show all the other rock friends how fine it is, working it, oh yeah. I think it has a future on project runway, or maybe you do. VBG!!!!
