i landed this afternoon.
right here.
at this house on a hill.
walked through this doorway…
and sat out back in this blooming spring garden with my face tilted up to the sky.
and i like that very much.
i scampered about only long enough to gather provisions.
i was expecting clouds and rain, but the air was clear as glass with sun beaming down on every surface.
tomorrow big storm coming!
here in the city by the bay.
but i brought my bag of yarn and rocks. and i just spied something that will go into my sketchbook. and i'm almost falling asleep, but that's going to have to wait because there are nooks and crannies of this house to explore. and a big fat architectural guidebook to study. and walkabouts to plan. and buses to ride. and streetcars to chase after.
i ♥ san francisco.

I just got back to Boston from SF on Wednesday. I was there for a conference and again for the 2nd time, I did not have time to see all that I wanted! There are few places in the US that I would prefer to live besides Boston, but San Francisco is definitely on the list! <3 (And oh, how thankful my husband would be if he only knew I missed that spectacular Scrap shop!!)

Yes, she is beautiful and I was lucky enough to live there for 33 years, until October 2010. My memories will last a long time.

We went when my children were small and they were thrilled with the idea of it… my son just couldn’t get it out “sans-an-frans-an-frans-sans-an-isco!” he would say proudly when someone asked where we were off to… to me, it will always be that grand…
It just looks all sun-shiney and happy – enjoy!

Oh, San Francisco is one of my favorite places in all the world! Have a great time!

Have a great break. We went in January and got a few more things done that we had never done before. Did you know you can WALK across the Golden Gate? Plus the bus drops you off right on the SF side so you can walk half way and then turn back if you like. After a while walking on flat ground feels reeallly good!

San Francisco is on my bucket list even though I know the hills will be the death of me…maybe I’ll save it for last in that case!! You are a lucky girl–that house looks beautiful. Hope you have a great time and even an adventure or two. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to!!

I live about an hour east of San Francisco but only get over there once or twice a year. It’s a great city and I haven’t seen nearly enough of it. Have a ball and if anyone else ever comes to visit, email me and we’ll carouse around the city, shopping and eating and playing tourist.

What fun, I love SF but I have never ridden a cable car yet, that is what I would do if I was there, and then drive a souped-up camaro up and down the hills like Steve McQueen in Bullit. I love the house you are staying at, looks like a yummy frosted cake, I just wanna take a big bite out of it.
Pamela says
Wow! Wish I knew. I live here in SF. Could have given you some tips. And it is sure pouring rain today!!!

Yay! You are in my home town, even though I haven’t lived there for over 20 years, once a San Franciscan (especially a third generation one), always a San Franciscan! Have fun at Flax if you get there (drool!)… and the Cinderella Bakery on Balboa around 6th Avenue has the most luscious pastries (try the vatrushka, a Russian style cheese cake, yummo!!)… oh have so much fun!

Hey Ms. Moss… youre in my neck of the woods. Actually, I work SF during the week and then flee to other side of the bay. SF is a wonderful city – lots of fabulous things to do and not do as our clouds roll in. Have a fabulous time and I look forward to seeing your pics of my woods!

O my God… You take rocks with you on a holiday? I thought I was the only one logging things around that are way too heavy on trips… You totally outsmart me girl! Have fun in Frisko, say hello to the seals for me! Go stand with your feet in the Pacific Ocean…

Nothing like the drive up the 101 to get there. As kids we drove to the Bay Area to visit my Tia. I have visions of golden hills and green velvet trees far off in the distance. Living in the desert I ache for a glimpse of the ocean. I’ll imagine you crocheting a sweater for those rocks on the bay! Enjoy!

So envious…my daughter lives just across the Golden Gate bridge in Mill Valley. I wish I was there with you. I’d go play with my grand-daugher while you sketched. We could go to The Slanted Door for dinner…..and sit in the garden. I’d read and take photos of the flowers. You could crochet.
Well….that was a nice mini vacation! Now, you go have fun. But please, remember to share with us. We like to know what galavanting you are up to!

Oooh, I’ve always wanted to go to San Francisco, how exciting that you are taking us there! And the lilacs are blooming, how absolutely lovely – insert deep inhale here. That textured wallpaper by the front door looks quite interesting, I’d want to sketch that.
