My dad was an amateur astronomer. He ground his own telescopes. Living in the jungles of Veracruz we had black black skies. We named our boxer Bellatrix-she was brindle with a star on her neck. He also trained his telescope on our neighbor’s yellow porch lite on night. It was swarming with insects. He got us all out of bed and convinced us it was Jupiter and her moons gone wild. We believed him.
