as of this morning i'm back on the grid!
with 2 weeks to go before i hit the road for chiapas i finally sat down to wrestle with the stack of ideas inside the noggin. and commit them into book form. experimenting.
my shiny new ipad 2 arrives tomorrow. plenty of time for me to figure out how to blog, email & make digital inroads with the bamboo stylus. i'm looking very forward to not taking the more cumbersome laptop on this trip. i don't do the phone thing so having the ability to email mama moss and let her know i haven't been kidnapped is essential.
i finished EMILY ALONE and started this (!)
oh boy! thanks for recommending it. this is one swell book that is making me go HA HA like a big department store santa.
not exactly laughing with this one. but definitely smiling a lot.
happy sunday readers. you're nice. i like you.
thanks for hanging out with me during the power outage.
come back tonight and i'll make you a big mug of angelina's hot chocolate (from paris!). i've been rationing my bag, but for you i'll splurge!
in case you didn't know december is international hot chocolate month. in my mind.

Oh that “tractor” book is a doozy. I loved it. She has a new novel out but can’t think of the title of it at this time.
Carol Kitchell says
Glad you’re enjoying the book – I thought you might like it. The only thing is, I could have written it about my father! Think about that (but not for too long)!
I’m loving that you do all your wonderful creative business on that little bitty desk. What’s your secret to not spreading stuff all over the continent?

Power back on, new journal and hot chocolate, I’ll be right over. What fun wish I could. You have had a scary couple of days, now teaching those little craft monkeys is kind of scary somedays too so you do need and deserve a trip. I would watch your cat posse if I was around but it’s not to be so enjoy your evening, refish and go back and do it all again tomorrow. The kids just love you and your what the world needs, a fun, accepting, out of the box teacher, yeah for you.
Susie LaFond says
I’ll have a cup please and thank you, a little late to the gathering but better late than never. VBG. Loving how the new journal is looking, very mysterious and ever so interesting. I am happy you have been reconnected with the rest of the world with quieter days ahead. I can’t wait for these 2 weeks to fly by so you can start your adventure. Looking forward to your post and pics from a new corner of the world and you get to do it with you new Ipad. How cool is that gonna be. Yes indeedy I think. 🙂

Oh………..yum……..hot chocolate! I like your mind. I like, no LOVE, any mind that can invent International Hot Chocolate Month. Yep. I do. I’ll sit down and have an imaginary hot chocolate with you.

I found a recipe for Angelina’s Hot Chocolate here :http://www.savory.tv/2009/12/12/paris-hot-chocolate-recipe/
and a note elsewhere that they serve it with a dollop of mascarpone and whipped cream. Dreamy sigh! Not sure how close the recipe is, but even if it’s a distant cousin it sounds delightful.
Glad things are back to normal there.

Mmmmmm Angelina’s hot chocolate. I didn’t know anything could be so divine. I’m rationing Marie Antoinette tea from Laduree that I got in May. Sometimes, I just open it and smell it and that’s enough of a fix. This way I can make it last longer. I saw a video this evening and thought you might enjoy it. It tugs at your heart for sure. I don’t know how to link it, but search for Oskar the blind kitten on youtube. The way the kitten and and his older brother interact is beyond words. Glad you made it through the storms.
Janet says
New ideas, books to read, and hot chocolate! I’m in!!
I’m glad you have power back again. I hope the next wind event (coming in a few days) isn’t as bad as this one was. Stay warm!

Mary Ann! At first glance, your first photo, I thought you had decided to work large. Such a wonderful piece!!! I’ve fallen in love with the last page before your book photos. I was fascinated looking at the way you’re assembling all of these pages.
After seeing Marina Lewycka’s, ‘a Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian’ I think I’ll mix up a Moscow Mule while I wait on your generous offer of Hot Chocolate!
Leslie Gardiner says
Hi Mary Ann, I have enjoyed your blog every day for at least a year. Love my daily enjoyment of all things you share here! I am so glad life has gotten back to some sort of normalcy for you and your feline friends. It’s so fun to anticipate your next trip with you, no matter where you go.Your blog brings all of us along for the ride a multitude of riches. Thanks so much, Leslie

Your posts always brighten and round out my day! I’m looking underneath and all around those pages you painted. Looks like a very interesting and unique binding technique is emerging, and I’m hoping you’ll let us in on it when the time comes….please? Glad you made it through the storm! High winds are scary-dangerous, and sound scary, too!
