Oh um, I'm still here! Making books on video and watching the flowers bloom.
I was videotaping in my art room late this afternoon and one of the big flocks of parrots zoomed by. Squawking and screaming. Their winged shadows literally moving across these sunlit walls. I ran outside, but missed their flight maneuvers. This happened a few more times. Parrot games!
And the epis presented me with a double bloom this morning.
And last week a band of racoons were cavorting under my bedroom window at 3 a.m. I sat up in bed and leaned into the window sill to talk to them. I feel lucky to be surrounded by city wildlife. At times I feel like I'm in a Beatrix Potter movie.

they like to dunk in the pool to wash it. They step onto the top step of the jacuzzi, and Scout hears them and goes nuts. These guys have to weigh twice what she does, and she wants to kick their asses. The next morning she runs out and smells every inch of the deck and the back fence where they crawl over, and she gets really irate. The parrots are amazing! They always seem to fly in pairs going from one nut tree to another one.

Up near the foothills we get raccoons coming to visit in the night. It’s so funny because they are HUGE, and they lumber around out there by the pool because whatever they are eating, they like to dunk in the pool to wash it. Now, those, Scout gets scared. She can’t figure out what they’re squawking about and just stares up at them, ready to bolt. They could care less!

Parrots, raccoons, giant blooms…i’m thinking it sounds like a rather wonderful dream yet there it is right in front of you, just a peek out the window….oh what a wonderous world, lest not forget just a few days ago ma nature blew up a nasty ole hissy fit and did some serious damage so while we are enjoying all this bliss in our own snug little corners of the globe others are thinking they’d just as soon take what little ma nature left them and call it a day. I am always torn when mother nature shares her blessings in one hand, offers us her sweet blooms while in her other hand she is taking things back, scattering her things and taking what is not hers right along with it. Mother nature has mulitple personalities and I am thinking she might need some mood altering drugs. Seriously, thinking lot about natures blessings and her fury the past several days. I know people whose lives all this natural chaos has touched. Thanks for the sweet lift up Mary Ann. Can’t wait to see a sneaky peeky!!!!!

Mmmmm, I saw a fox walking down the middle of my street the other morning at 5 am–delicious! And surprising in the city.
I’m blown away by your epis, almost enough to move to LA… not quite, just almost.

Even Dear Beatrice couldn’t thunk up squawking bright green parrots and overnight raccoons!
That book’s binding looks simply sumptuously sensational!
