I've been slowly putting together the Paris travel journal. Here, let me show you.
I'm going about it a little bit different than the last few travel journals. Mostly because I have this old falling apart photo album that I've wanted to use as the foundation. I like the smallness of it, but also the heft.
Hammerpress I love you! I got the card on the left years ago. Perfect right? And last time I was in Paris I picked up this giant old marquee poster for 5 euros. I'm cutting it up and putting it throughout the journal.
While digging out old photo frames I found her. She's coming with me to Paris. One way or another.
Stacking, folding, sewing. I go back and forth between 2 speeds. Slow & very slow. I like being thoughtful about these things. It's raining here in Los Angeles today. I love hearing it patter down. Cozy.
Perfect weather for the last pages of Dracula!
It is a wild adventure we are on. Here, as we are rushing along through the darkness, with the cold from the river seeiming to rise up and strike us, with all the mysterious voices of the night around us, it all comes home. We seem to be drifting into unknown places and unknown ways. Into a whole world of dark and dreadful things.

I got the bottle sealing wax from HOMEBREW HEAVEN. It was inexpensive and their package arrived super fast! You can find them online

Hello there! I got referred by my friend Roberta from http://con-tain-it.typepad.com/my_weblog/ as I am going to Paris the end of the month and she said you might be able to give me a few tips as you have been before. I have been once, two years ago, for 8 hours but it was in June and it was a hot day, and I know March is relatively chilly still….if you have any tips or suggestions I would be grateful! PS I have also made a little journal to take with on our journey! I will be posting pics of it on my blog tomorrow!

J’adore! I have one or two petite albums like that…hmm… I’m so looking forward to your dispatches from Paris. I haven’t been since 2006 so will live vicariously through you 🙂

That little girl is stunning. You HAVE to save the original photograph! Photocopy it or transfer it, please!! Can’t wait to see the journal finished and all full ’til bursting…

YES on Hammerpress, I live about 3 minutes from them here in Kansas City. They leave fun little printed ads and coasters in the coffee shop nearby…I always snag ’em.
Thanks for more inspiration…I’ve been working SLOWLY through your classes and love them. (With a 9 month old that’s about the only speed next to STOPPED for my art time!)

Truly love the photo of the sewing machine. Always so fascinated by your journals. They ALMOST inspire me to make one and actually sew. But not quite. In one of your classes that I took, stenciling on canvas – there was sewing involved, but I managed to not make one single stitch. Nothing to be proud of, just fessing up.

That journal is going to be awesome! I can’t wait to see it filled up with the new stuff you find on your trip. Can’t wait for you to go!

Ok, this may just be my favorite ever……..jury is still out on that, however. (last part is shameless ploy to get more photos out of the ever-coy Ms. Moss)

Hi!!!
New to your blog and your ROD class. I’m loving it so far. I already made the cover and stitched 2 signatures…I’m delighted with myself!!! hehe
Seriously so glad I joined your class. I’ll have to wait to fill it up next week. I’m not going anywhere exciting like Paris, but I’m headed to Texas!!!
I love your journals and I’m amazing at this one–love the blue threads, that would not have occured to me…no idea why, only black, red and perhaps orange would of come to mind. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!! I hope you enjoy your weekend.

Hi, Mary Ann! I’ve been following your blog for several months but don’t tend to comment. I just HAD to today, though, to tell you I absolutely LOVE the top photo. Your paper fan circle looks almost like a cathedral window behind the spool of thread. The hazy flowers in the foreground, the reflected light, the colored burst in the background, and the thread – just off center – it’s PERFECT!!
