I’ve sailed for Sweden on my foreign film vessel. A lovely touching movie. And best of all a formula-free ending. “Like having your eyes washed.” as one reviewer put it. I concur! Instant watch on Netflix.
p.s. I just read Stockholm was the Venice of the north…someone’s ears and travel heart came alive when she heard that. This is how it starts. How the tiny seeds begin to sprout. Just so you know.

Stockholm is magical, especially in May. And the breakfasts are incredible. You should go.

Trying so hard to find the movie so that I can watch it. Nexflix not available in Canada yet. Our closing-down video store doesn’t have it, nor does the library.

Rick Steves has an article about visiting Stockholm’s Island getaways this week

I shouldn’t have but I did. I went to Netflix and found that Everlasting Moments was available to play now… and I did, I just spent 2 hours in the middle of the morning watching this wonderful film. I understand that love of the magic of photography and the feeling on making a wonderful photo. I learned to make photos with a similar bellows camera, though mine used roll film. If I’d had access to a darkroom I might have experienced what she did, but it was still and is still… quite wonderful to look at the world through the lens of a camera and make that moment everlasting.
Thanks.

Thanks for the film tip. I’ve added it to my Netflix queue. After reading the Millenium trilogy, I’ve got a yen to visit Sweden too.

Yes, this is a terrific movie! First saw it at the Chicago International Film Festival a year or so back. The director spoke after the showing so it was doubly good. Stockholm – Copenhagen – Oslo – Helsinki, all fabulous places to go. You & Carol would like them. A big change from Istanbul (which you are going to LOVE! I hope.)

And ty for the movie rec. I have some free time now that our afternoons are so so hot. A movie sounds ideal.
