My very last epiphyllum has bloomed. I will miss her wide lush petals. Her crushing beauty.
Suzanne who went to Mérida with me this winter is probably flying over the Sierra Nevadas about now. She’s on her way from Chicago to spend the long weekend with me! In the last week I put together 2 roomy chairs, 2 ottomans, and a loveseat out back. I got hot. I got sweaty. I lost things. I cursed. I was cranky. And then I wasn’t.
The wine has been uncorked. The cat posse is warming up the chairs. Later the fire will be warming up all of us.
The frames are from Kitschy Digitals. I printed some of them out to use in my journal
Dreaming of wooden windowboxes like these, with holes for pots.

Have a wonderful weekend with Suzanne!
I’ll raise a glass of wine and hope that the two of you are doing the same thing at the same time……
cheers!

THOSE POTS!!! I did that exact same thing at our last house…a little cedar shake cottage with blue-gray paint. We replaced the little old casement windows with large wide ones. I’d seen something like this in a magazine or something and KNEW I had to do the same thing (now I’m going to be obsessed with going through old photos to see if I can find a picture of them!) I just loved them! They were on the shady side of the house and so they were filled with Japanese painted ferns, coral red impatiens and some other drapey sort of vine that I can’t remember at the moment.
Do it. I dare you! And then take pictures and show us all. Stuff them full of gluttonous succulents and let them drip their apron-string babies all over the edges. It will be paradise!
