I'm still enjoying the small size of visual journal No. 11 Next weekend I want to set up a journal table out on the back patio. Something simple. Because frankly it's difficult to step inside the house at all. I want to be outside morning, noon, and night.
2 parrots sailed over my head this morning. A shot of green and they were gone. Hawks are circling. Crows that make knocking sounds. Finches, hummingbirds that click click click as they drink nectar. And me. And the slumbering cat posse. Drunk with happiness to have a couple hundred square feet of concrete where they might doze in various stretched out poses.
The epiphyllum buds are succulent and juicy. In 2 weeks I predict the show will begin.
Until then I can't stop staring at the new chocolate colored stucco walls in the back patio.
Or the dark and pale succulents leaning against them.
Nearly black petals glowing against those dusky walls.
This old pot was half buried in the front garden. I brought it with me from Kansas over 20 years ago. Planted it with donkey's tail to drape down the sides. This is going up on the hot dry ledge of the water fountain.
Aloe arborescens. I took this cutting about 6 weeks ago and just got around to planting it.
A shot of color and fragrance. Dizzying.

SIGH, can I curl up in one of the sunny spots or will the cat ‘posse’ arrest me? VBG. Love the journal, love the idea of a corner outside for creating and the photos are stunning. And indeed much applause heading your way…IMHO, you are hands down ‘teacher of the year’ Your ‘artists in training’ are all the proof I need. VBG

Can you post another picture of the progress? I adore your patio!!!! Alas, I cannot go out on to my patio to work on my new Stencilry project as our neighbors cat tangled with a SKUNK on our patio. Today I have washed the patio twice and the cat once LOL!!! I will be changing his name from Oreo to Stinky McGee!!!! Beth

Beautiful! You inspired me to get some good soil and repot my succulents… and perhaps take some cuttings from my epiphyllum and Christmas cacti.
