The young artists and I made these out of some upholstery fabric samples I got off the Trash For Teaching truck a couple of years back. We glued cardstock scrapbook paper to the inside covers and stapled plain white paper inside. Simple.
Kids. Paper scraps. Glue. Chunky sticker letters. Hog heaven. For reals.
I snuck these in my big lunch bag on the way out of the class. Shhhhhhh…
Thanks to all the fairy godmothers who’ve sent such lovely treasure to our little class in the big city. Our supply closet runneth over with good stuff.
More tomorrow!
i wanna be a second grader!
Is it too late for me to send goodies?
I’ve been stopping by, lurking, for the last few months. Your work is beautiful. I’d love to hear more about your journals with you students. I, too, teach 2nd grade. Please, please tell me how you do it. Can’t wait to see more!
Your kids are amazing. I think it has a lot to do with their teacher!
Priceless!
Oh you can just see the JOY in all of these, and the pride!!! LUcky Lucky kids to be blessed with you for a teacher!!!!!!!
I know that these children will remember your class forever. I remember my childhood art experiences, just not in a totally positive way! I’m also liking the shapes you are painting. And did I tell you I have a wonderful sister also? ok… enough from me!
These Craft Monkeys are soooo good! They are lucky, you are lucky…aren’t we all lucky to know one another!!
These pages are lovely. Tell Sandra that I love, love, love the right side page with the great colors and composition. She’s a budding artist, for sure, as they all are. I hope that all their future teachers continue to encourage the creativity that you’ve helped these children tap into.
these are SO great!!! 😀 really lovely, and the combinations of colors/patterns is terrific!
write a book
no, wait! I’ve said that before.
(and I’ll keep on….)
so many ideas, so many ideas
These are soooo beautiful!!!
Great work. I love seeing what you and the monkeys are making. Happy creating…
awesome!
Awesome I love that you support their growing little creative minds!
I loved going in to teach middle school kids mixed media. The shool where I was a guest artist was a “have not” school and the kids were so hungry for art.
I learned so much just from seeing their work and it was so good to see them feeling proud of what they made. It’s so good for self esteem.
Why School boards choose to cut arts programs is beyond me. It’s a crime. Good for you for making this a part of your kids’ world. It’s sacred work.
I love to see their work……..lucky to have you as their teacher!!!
Oh wow! Those are some lucky kids! This looks like a fun rainy day project for my 1st grader while on April break. She LOVES making books too!
