Sunday in Los Angeles. A big beautiful uncomplicated day. Layers of snow-capped mountains, blue sky, sunshine, warmth. Every last person and animal in this gleaming metropolis rolled their heads backed and lifted their faces to the sun. I did not see this per se, but I know it occurred.
Between monkeys and Mendocino I was diverted from travel journal posts. I'm back! You knew I would be.
Maybe I can squeeze one more photo into this post without your eyes crossing.
Just finished reading Chicago and A Reliable Wife. If you like cursing while you read, occasionally throwing the book, being annoyed and in general having hissy fits, then read those books. I picked them both up while traveling so my judgement was impaired. Just started The Elegance of the Hedgehog. I already feel better.
When was the last time you saw a baby anteater? Clear your schedule. Then git yourself to Zooborns Click on the painted hunting dogs in the pool video. Daaaang. Thanks Carol K.!

i’m happy to see so many who enjoyed the elegance of the hedgehog. i recently read it with my book club and enjoyed it very much. not everyone appreciated it equally (some not much at all). while it had some moments more believable than others, the words alone gave me joy.

I remember, I saw a TV show, and one of the characters was reading the Elegance of the Hedgehog and I’d just gotten it. And I thought, this is a sign! If she’s reading this right after I got it, then I’m being told to hurry and read it!!
Not being one to believe in signs, I read Tinsel, instead.
Now, you’re reading the elegance of the hedgehog. IT’S A SIGN!!
Anyway, since you asked, I am LOVING this new storm. Every time I hear and feel the thunder I giggle and smile. And chuckle. But I’m not one who has to finish a book I start. If it make me throw it across the room it usually stays there.
neato photos!

I just finished A Reliable Wife…interesting story. When I started it, I thought this is going to be a wonderful love story. It was kind of weird the way he still loved her after what she did to him. I’ve been hearing about the horrible weather there in LA. I guess you haven’t been effected by it?
Cheers,
Mary

Lovelovelove your journal. And I have added this book to my library list. The last good book I read was The Help. Really enjoyed it.
And that Zoo site is fantastic, I am going to link it up on my blog too, with credit to you, of course.

I read “Elegance of the Hedgehog” when I was on vacation at the coast this Winter…and I loved it. I was so sorry when I got to the end of it 🙁

I love, LOVE ‘The Elegance of the Hedgehog.’ Brilliant read. Incidentally, I am currently reading ‘Foreign Affairs’ because of the wee sidebar on your blog. Chuck Mumpson has just called late at night…I guess I better get back to it.

You’re very welcome. Anything for a fellow primate lover. I also confess to being over-the-moon for pandas and elephants. Exciting journal pages – love that layering!

Gorgeous journal!

I just finished reading A Reliable Wife, too…was disappointed after all the hype. And I’d just finished Tana French’s In The Woods a lettle before that and there was now way he could compare to her lush language. Give hers a try, the story was good, but the writing was better!!

Yeah, and did you see the video of the fishing cats? Those claws are lethal! Fun at the Zoo, for sure.

ELEGANCE was a slow start for me, but like any good relationship, the more I got to know it the more I loved it. It’s one of my favorites.
Oh, and Amazing Journal. Once again proving that small is good too.

Love your journals and like seeing how they have changed in the last few months. I would like to know more about the sewing I see on these pages.

I love these books! These rich textured traces of the remains of the day…I am just loving them. Promise to sign up in the next few months…but a sewing machine…gosh…I have never used one! Blessings Eden
