At my appointment today with the ENT, who is now my new BFF, my middle ear was pronounced all clear for take off! Whew. That is a relief with a capital R. Thanks for all the ear love you sent my way! I've sort of been doing my pre-travel piddle. Which is where I walk from room to room mumbling to myself. It's 1900 hours and I STILL haven't packed a single pair of underpants, much less anything else.
My Merida travel journal is ready though and my little plastic art box is packed! I made this journal with a combination of paper and fabric. The fabric was kindly sent to me by Teesha so I could see the quality of Spoonflower printing/fabric. She has her journal pages turned into fabric there. How cool is that? I doubt she thought I'd make something out of it. How rude of me! I tried to use something else but I couldn't resist.
After I left Vladimir's office (we're on a first name basis now), my good fortune continued. When I went to check in online I saw a little sign that instructed me to upgrade to First Class for a mere $69 buckeroos more. So I did! Holy crappoli! I've never been in a First Class seat in my life. I hope it comes with an instruction booklet so I'll know What Not To Do.
To all of the enthusiastic and delightful boys and girls in REMAINS OF THE DAY I'll still be with you. I'll just be a couple thousand miles southeast in Yucatan where the current humidity is 100% Have laptop will travel. Will blog, and travel journal, and consume tropical beverages, and turn 47 while I'm away!

I hope that first class was wonderful — I was upgraded once last year (after a booking mishap) and I felt oddly uncomfortable. they tried to take my coat! What’s with that?? The woman beside me had 5 or 6 drinks (it was a morning flight)I felt guilty eating my free lunch while the cattle class had to pay extra… I liked getting off first, though. Waiting for luggage still sucked.
Kelly Snelling says
hip hip hurray! i’m glad you are off for an exciting adventure! happy birthday celebrations to you! here’s to all the fun girls with early birthdays (mine is next month. i’m just one year and one month behind you)!!! and that journal is Gorgeous, yes, yes it is.

Ms. Moss – Delighted you get to go to Merida!!! Hope Wyatt and the kittens have a good caregiver during your absence. When I go to Mexico, I pack some clothes to give away to the maids in the hotel or on the steet, which leaves my luggage free to bring back treasures. Have you tried using a neti pot? Since I started using one, my ears do not hurt when the plane is landing. Buen viaje y que te vaya bien.

What, what! You’re going first-class! That is awesome! Don’t pack too many underpants, make more room for ART! Just turn the grundies (English word?) inside out that way you get another day’s wear out of them….. joking guys!… but seriously I’m so glad the ear pulled through for you in the end.

Oh I am glad it all worked out-that’s very good news indeed. Having suffered from ear issues all my life, I know how awful that can be and to miss a trip because of it, a birthday trip, no less, would have been more painful!
For someone who is addicted to attaining and hoarding journals, seeing new ones magically appear every day is happily crazy-making!
Have a safe flight and happy, happy birthday!
Marci Glenn says
Can’t wait to read of you adventures. About Spoonflower – yes, they are a wonderful company. I have sent off a few of my original collages and had them printed on fabric to use in journals, atc’s or anything else that will take fabric including stuffies (weird stuffed animals).
I wish you a marvelous trip, you deserve it. Cheers and bon voyage.
Renate says
Looking forward to hearing and seeing all about it. Have a madly wonderful time!

I will be agog to read of your adventures and admire your journal, Nancy
