In the morning on the porch the light was lurid and lovely. I sat out there thinking and gathering the day around me. Two full days with no small children to hop over, or desks to reach across.
No talking. No being talked to. Cutting. Pasting. Humming.
Sorting through the Chinatown photos.
My admiration of the paper lanterns isn't over.

Love the lanterns, and the parasols, too! The shapes, the colors, the translucence……

Oh, yum, Mary Ann! So wonderful to see your shiny yellow and aqua Chinatown, so very California. My New York Chinatown is very different — gray and red and angular and crowded — but at the same time very similar. A wonderful place. You have inspired me to go into the city and take new photos. Thank you!

I love your color vision. These shots have such a distinct palette that they could have been manufactured instead of seen and captured.
