Busy. New walkway & driveway to stare at and water several times per day. (Avert your eyes from the thicket of ungroomed plants.)
A brand spanking new school year began on Tuesday. There are 21 more baby alligators just like this one to wrangle every morning. Don't be fooled by their cutenes. They are a sly and cunning lot. AND they move around. A LOT. . This herd is particularly wriggly.
Walking on the new concrete late at night barefooted helps to soothe my savage inner beast. A 3-day weekend is a fine package I'll be unwrapping one minute at a time.
Someone turned 13 today.
That's all. The thinking required to compose this post while thundering BOOMING rocket-fire rattles my windows and nerves is beyond my feeble abilities. Neighbors are enthusiastically boom boom booming their way through the night. Oy. Must go lie down and pull covers over head. Okay, who hid the ear plugs? Where are my nerve pills? Someone make me a martini!
BOOM.

oh! – next to your martini…
can we share?

Ah, the writing! The alligators. The booming. I bow to your perfection.

The walkway came out GREAT!! I’m sure you’re very happy with it. Yeah, this was one of the longest and boomiest 4th on record here in the arroyo. Fortunately, our street did not have it’s previous share of sparkly, flaming thingys in the air. But those Booms went on until 1 a.m. at least (and continued the next day!). Ow.

I, too, love your walkway!
Our paper is full of articles about how many people are suffering from the price of gas.
I am feeling a LOT less sympathetic to that after having been subjected to some fraction of the noise of ‘leventy million dollars in explosives being set off for no reason but fun………
If “everyone” were truly so down-to-the-bone over gas prices, surely we’d have had a quieter weekend?
I hate it for myself, but I *really* hate it because my dogs are afraid….. At least the current dogs are only afraid, rather than terrified, as my old girl was before she got too deaf to hear it…..

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the stones in the walkway! That really turned out great.
I had my earplugs last night and am getting much better at reading lips. 🙂

Happy 13th Birthday! I LOVE the shoes. I LOVE the walkway. I don’t like the boom boom either, love the color of the fireworks, not the sounds. You’ve been busy. Good luck with those baby alligators. 🙂

Walkway is excellent! The stones add so much to the tile insets – lovely design. I also like the way the Keen huaraches look on your feet – I love color shoes. Hmmm, I may need some of those (P.S. are they the same size as your black sandals; I’ve heard Keens often require different sizes for different styles)
The baby alligators are not more wiggly than last year’s new herd; it’s just that teacher memory blurs the new crop into the old. The fresh bodies ALWAYS seem more wiggly, more clueless and much wonkier than the old (just look at yr July 9 post last year). It IS amazing how tiring wrangling the new ones is, even though there has been no break in school time.
Happy Weekend – I celebrated by stomping on a long line of Amazon packing air pockets – making LOUD pops along with the Boom Booms outside.
