Griffith Park Observatory. Nestled in the Hollywood Hills. Creamy white stucco against a backdrop of blue & green.
Am I in Los Angeles or Greece?
Oh. There's the Hollywood sign. Must be LA.
A little like walking onto a movie set. It's that beautiful.
I'll return soon at night to put my eye to the original 12-inch Zeiss refracting telescope located on the roof. More people have looked though it than any other telescope in the world. I'm always up for a good celestial show.
May I present my new summer sandals. Perfect for padding around the roomy villa in Praiano. Blue to match the color of sea and sky.
I like to imagine sitting on the terrace 40 days or so from now. Sipping some limoncello. Watching the fishing boats drift by. Strolling through the streets. Keeping my sister out of bar fights. It's nice to have a big blue dream looming on the horizon. Yes indeed.

love those keens! i’d get the light blue ones too dirty too fast, i’m hoping they have that style in a deep red – because i need red shoes every summer.

Ah, the Observatory…
As a little girl. my huge extended family would go on picnics in FernDell and the big kids would hike up to the Observatory after lunch, while I was left with the adults and reduced to fishing for guppies in the brooks. One year I was finally old enough to go on the hike. It was magical to see the world from up there. Later when I was in high school and dating, we told my parents we were going up to look through the telescope, but for some reason I cannot remember ever really doing that!
And Italy…one of my favorite places. Lucky you for actually making those dreams come true.

That first image of the observatory looks more like a painting than a photo. I repeat my self – what an eye you have! The shoesies look comfy – will they be good for extended walking without any backstrap – I am always looking for comfortable supportive shoes in colors (when i can find them I paint mine). Did you know there are sites for shoes for teachers!

Mary Ann,
Glad to see you’re feeling better. I’m a great fan of Griffith Park,I love visiting there and it’s a great place to hike.
I like your dream about hitting the road with your class, wouldn’t that just be the greatest adventure and all the kids would have matching blue sandals to yours and you title the bus “Escape to the Wild Blue Yonder”
Have a great day!

Big, blue, dream indeed. It’s an Italian blue dream.
It looks very much like a place I stayed in Positano called La Fenice. The tiles, the lovely table in the shade where you can do your sipping. The millions of steps to get to the beautiful beach…….mmmmmm
