More from the visual journal.
And a better look at this page I finished at the kitchen table.
What a wealth of patterned paper lurking underneath security envelopes. Thanks Citibank, Capital One, Discover Card, and other junk mail giants. Who knew?
I’m still dreaming of winter even with the sun spilling over everything like warm varnish. These old books keep winter rooted in my imagination.
I read most of them while growing up in Panama. No snow then.
No snow now.

I truly enjoyed looking through your posts.
Brilliant, the idea of looking at the inside of envelopes for inspiration. What joy to be reminded so visually of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books and then, lurking in the left corner, Garrison Keillor, one of my alltime favorite radio hosts! Thank you for sharing these treasures. 🙂

I love your visual journal. It’s so fun! You are inspiring me to maybe start one myself. How do you determine your topics?

Bret just called and said to go to the market because there is a storm coming with freezing rain and snow. Gee I feel like I fit right into your story. I am sure I have a lean to also but I don’t know what that is.
Hey m.a. what is that white circle frame thingy on your book and how did you get it there?

mary ann, your journal is PURE GOLD…you do realize that, don’t you? i come here and feel so very rich when i click off; from the myriad of interesting photos (i especially love the furry people), your journal pages – oh mama! – the experiences you share about your students and class (the pancake in the desk cracks me up inside and out), the links you share of other artist, and the emotions you conjure up in me as you blend it all into the magic that is this journal, a reflection of you. i hope i get to meet you one day in the flesh- in your raincoat, bathrobe, or gas mask would be perfect 🙂

Oh!! Another great use for ALL the STUFF we get in the mail!!
Love it!
I adored all those books, read them and re-read them with my daughter….how pa struggled to get to the barn in those blizzards!!! The best way to experience snow in my opinion….in a book!

Well, aren’t you clever. And to think all this time I’ve been tossing that stuff right into the recycling bin…(after shredding any identifiable info, of course!)
