Look at this sun-dappled bundle that landed safe and sound in my happy mailbox this afternoon after a long trek across the country. Oh Sharon Zimmer you are a woman after my own heart sending me those sequins just in time to finish off a piece of mailart I was masterminding. They were the PERFECT fit. You don’t know all the projects I have slated for those old maps! When I turned your lovely and amazing pack of treasure over I saw a map of Panama -land of my childhood. Thank you.
And now for a tiny peek at the mailart that is leaving my spraypaint manicured hands and making it’s way across the California desert, east through Arizona and New Mexico, then following the path of the Rio Grande River, where it will head south for a ways before going back east again straight through Uvalde, Texas, all the way around the Alamo, then right straight through the streets of San Antonio. Please have apples, sugar cubes, prairie grass, alfalfa and oats ready for my ponies. Oh…and plenty of fresh water. Thank you. You know who you are.
I have been besotted with patterns for some time now – the busier & more intricate the better. The inside of my mind, you see, is covered in a dizzying Moroccan patterned wallpaper. The fact that it’s peeling should concern me, but so far it doesn’t. I’m trusting that the same crew that hung that batch will return to touch things up when the time comes. This page below is from my current visual journal, but when you see my latest mailart pieces you’ll know I’m just one baby step away from needing medication.
That is a beautiful journal page!
your journal pages are so beautiful!
Hi there,
My sister-in-law Katie Kendrick told me to take a look at your stuff…and I did, and it’s so fun. I really like your mail art. You teach 2nd grade, and I teach first and we both are interested in this artzie thing. I think that’s why Katie told me to check out your page. Sooo glad I did–thanks for posting your work.

Just absolutely great stuff…the package you got (love the ribbon), playing with stencils, etc. I am so enjoying your blog!
I just had to let you know that I bought my first stencil today and can of spray paint! Whew- those fumes are somthing else!!! Thanks for the inspriation.
Thanks Mary Ann, I’m glad you got the package in one piece and in time to use those sequins. I got mine at Cartwright’s online. Have a groovy week gal. I will be looking forward to your package in the mail too!
Best,
Sharon
I have more heavy patterned paper, if you ever need some patching.
Oh pray tell do I need to stock up on apples. If not an pony express ambush may be in next week’s plans.
yoo hoo…. if the wallpaper on the inside of your mind needs to be re-hung you need to talk with your general contractor. Those kinds of things take a work-order! I’d get on it right now. Sometimes it takes a while to round up a good crew, especially if a patterned paper is what you need hung.
Love the extra embellishment on the red sequinned heart! why don’t I come up with ideas like that?
Wow, your journal pages are amazing. So full of life and color! i am inspired to really try and get mine done! Maybe in a year or so… 🙂
