This is the best internet class, period! I had been hording papers for the past few years and they had taken over my studio – this class freed me up to actually use those papers and create a wonderful journal that I will cherish. Even if you think you have done it all before, Mary Ann brings a fresh perspective, new techniques and her enthusiasm is contagious! Her videos are fabulously produced and allow you to follow step by step. You will feel refreshed and renewed after this class and you will never look at paper the same way. I highly recommend this class (and I plan to take any others she offers). Cheers!

I AM TRYING TO KEEP MARY ANN MOSS A SECRET TO MYSELF SELFISHLY BUT IT’S NOT WORKING!!!! SHE IS MY NEW GURU!!!!
XOXO,
JULIE ANN SHAHIN
I agree with Anne about being impressed by the level of instruction… it just doesn’t get any better than this! Mary Ann is a pro. She knows how to teach, what to say, how to demo, how to put it all together so anyone, even non-crafters can follow her lead… and she does it with care and kindness and encouragement. I’m a teacher, too, and I know how hard this is to pull off, with this level of expertise. She’ll have you coming back for more and more and more, wishing it would never end. and the good thing about that is that we have access to the videos and PDFs for a year instead of a measy couple of months like some online teachers.
One great thing about the class for me is that I’m rapidly reducing my boxes and drawers full of never used but too good to throw away scraps of paper and fabric… by sewing them together into interesting and exciting journal pages that I. WILL. USE.

This is one of the best on-line classes I’ve taken. It’s taking me on an awesome creative journey. I’m already planning my next 10 journals…lol.
I think your videos are absolutely marvelous, tons of detail.
Not to mention, I so love your personality, very exuberant and playful, and your wacky sense of humour!! And your term, ‘guerilla sewing’. I love it.
Thanks so much for sharing with us your awesomeness!!

I agree with everything everyone else has said. This was first class all the way! The one thing I want to add is how easy she made it all seem. In every video I kept saying, “I can do that! This is effortless!” When it came to actually doing it, it wasn’t always so effortless for me, but then I’d go back to the video and say “Oh yeah, THAT’s how it’s done.” Once I got the hang of sewing paper scraps together, there was no stopping – I too have enough pages for at least one more journal, maybe more. I was so disappointed when I realized I’d seen the last video – I WANT MORE OF MARY ANN!

WOW! This class is Amazing! I’ve only taken a handful of classes on-line; I’m pretty selective. This one blows my socks off! It is worth the investment. There are so many ideas & components that can be used in other projects. What I love about this class is it’s a journal from start to finish – cover, construction & filling it up. Mary Ann is creative, insightful, & entertaining to watch. The yahoo group, flickr pics & blog allow interaction among students & teacher. I jumped into the class late, but have found so much inspiration from everyone taking the class. Once you start the videos you can’t stop! If you do any type of journaling or collage or want a creative jump start to the year, Take This Class!!

This class has made me so happy. I’ve discovered a new, more relaxed me and of course I’ve learned a great deal. Every step has been enjoyable, beginning with your professional instructions for printing, Mary Ann, and your helpful, sometimes funny, little videos. I’ve referred to them often.
I’ve raided books I thought were too precious.
I’ve looked at tags and tickets and packaging in a new light.
I’ve given life to my fabulous collection of souvenirs which formerly lived in the dark of boxes.
I’ve learned what a sharpie is and what a Japanese screw punch is used for.
I still have no idea what moo cards are OR what mod podge could be.
And all the time we’ve been shepherded and watched over by the most generous of teachers.
A MILLION THANKS.
-Chrissy
I must confess, I had some doubts about this course before I signed up. BUT, once I started watching the videos, my fingers got itchy to get working, the boxes and baskets of old papers and goodies came out, and I was creating like crazy! Mary Ann is inspiring without being overpowering. I got a great creative jumpstart just when I needed it. And, this is really amazing for me, I used some of the stuff that’s been around for years. It’s like I was saving it for this project, and many more just like this.
I can’t thank you enough, Mary Ann, it’s a great course. Even if you think you know everything about sewing, bookmaking, journaling, collage, recycling, this process is freeing and fast. Don’t think too hard, just do it. If it seems too expensive, YOU ARE WORTH It!! Thanks, MAM!

Hi Mary Ann
Just a quick note to say thank you for your remains of the day class. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and am slowly watching the videos (I have 2 little kids). I have been getting so inspired by your videos and great ideas! I bought a sewing machine in April and have not opened it until last night, learnt to wind the bobbin and threaded it myself with the instructions as I haven’t sewn since high school – 16 years ago! I am sewing pages and making piles of paper everywhere. I think my husband thinks that I may never stop collecting paper!!! haha!
Anyways thanks for the inspiration! Can’t wait to sew some more and finish my journal.
Cheers

I FINALLY watched the last few videos from this class that I’d bought last year! The Epilogue one is just delightful, thank you so much for it. What a great way to start my day today, in the grey and wet Pacific Northwest. I know I am not alone in being so slow to start my own ROTD journal; I am hoping to do it with another friend from Vancouver who also bought but did not DO. I just wanted to say thank you for the videos you made; I enjoyed every one of them. I will post a photo when I really do get something done.

Hey Mary Ann – I’ve just spent glorious parts of the past 2 days creating and finishing up my cover for Remains of The Day. I LOVE it! Am just getting ready to start sifting through paper, which will allow me to clean out bins, which they are in desperate need of. Your class, as always, is so well thought out and so entertainingly put together. I absolutely love the videos. I wish I could learn everything this way. I am such a visual learner that this just makes learning so fun and accessible. LOVE IT!
As always, thank you, thank you, for sharing your wonderful self with all of us.
Can’t wait for the next part!

WOW, I had a blast creating my shabby scrap journal Mary Ann! Hope my blog post sends more happy students your way. You are an excellent teacher, providing brilliant instruction and over-the-top inspiration. It was fantastic that I didn’t have to pack and schlep supplies, load up a car or get on an airplane to take your class! I hope to ‘attend’ more of your classes. Coolio. Thanks so much.
Cheers

Oh, Mary Ann, you’re the best! I’ve been wanting to tell you how much I’m loving your class! I feel like a whole new world has been opened up to me. I mean, I’ve collected scraps from my life since I was a kid and always attempted to integrate them into my journals, but for the most part, they just collect dust. 90 percent of the pretty and not-so-pretty little things that catch my eye have never really fit into my regular journaling process even though I keep collecting and trying. I needed you to open up my eyes to see that these bits and pieces could make up the journal itself, the base for storytelling instead of just being the story told—brilliant!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I feel like my journaling has taken on a whole new depth and I’m more in love with the whole process than I’ve been in years. You-are-the-best!!

2 THUMBS UP—way way UP!!!

Mary Ann Moss has never met me but she understands my INNERMOST SECRET: I never want to throw anything away….every scrap that passes through my hands just seems to promise so much possibility! And thanks to her class, Remains of the Day (a shabby journal), I now know how to wring every drop of possibility out of all the scraps in my life.
-Jeanette Sclar
I haven’t been this jazzed about journaling since I discovered Teesha Moore in 2002. I LOVE THIS CLASS. I have struggled for YEARS trying to make beautiful, personal and meaningful journal pages from a blank pages using paint and other methods. When I took your stencilry class I really started to get out of that funk, but THIS! Aye yi yi! I am in LOVE with the results. I spent the whole day yesterday alternately watching videos and putting together the pages. All those Artfest trades I never knew what I was going to do with, in they go. and I feel more of a permission to include funky cool advertisements from my graphic design magazines. Those paper samples they put in the magazines- in they go. I am on the lookout now for labels and stickers. I found the labels but I cannot find these cool little round stickers you seem to have. Guess I’ll make my own! I bought a package of sticker paper from Staples.
ANYWAY, to anyone reading this, MA is a great teacher, she is entertaining, and this is the best online class I have taken. I am so excited!

You did it –You did it you helped me break through!!! This journal was so freeing! I have tried other techniques to loosen up but none of them did it. But, you did it and I thank you.
I became obsessed with this project. I have been collecting for years not knowing what the heck I would do with this stuff, but you did it. You showed me how to loosen up and just go with the flow. I really believe that this journal will help me creatively. I will go back and draw color inspiration. I will draw template making( I am a digital scrapbooker) I will use it when I create digital collages . I loved this class I love you for sharing.

mary ann, i loved this class!! thanks so much!
i had a total blast making my remains of the day journal. when i wasn’t sewing it i wanted to be sewing it. when i finished it i immediately started sewing another one which i will share another day. if you have never taken a class from mary ann i highly highly recommend that you do. the classes are wonderful, informative, funny. mary ann is an excellent teacher. each weeks lesson comes with a fully loaded pdf file for you to print and keep (i print mine and then put them in page protectors in a binder) and then there’s a ton of videos to watch (and the videos aren’t just “first i do this, then this”, mary ann is talkative, silly and highly entertaining to watch and listen to). her classes have opened up so many artistic possibilities to me that i think i’ve only just begun exploring. from spray paint, cutting my own stencils, playing with silhouettes, and now sewing. i have a blast taking her classes, so very very inspiring. really go check them out if you haven’t already.
-Jessica Loughrey
I love your idea. I have been saving bits and baubles for years and now I have a place to use them. I have also started and stopped so many traditional journals but they never kept me interested for long. I love your remains of the day. a friend at work wants one to put all her family treasures in for her children to inherit, what a neat idea. So I guess I will be busy for a while and use up all my hoards. The possibilities are swirling, how will I sleep? My husband thanks you for helping me clear out some of my “junk” I haven’t taken an online class before, this was an excellent class, easy to follow, easy to personalize. I bow to you, you are a master.
-Marilyn Morgan
Mary Ann, this class was/is amazing!!!!! I loved it!! I had NO idea how to sew – didn’t even own a sewing machine. But I went out and bought one and got started. The end result is a unique journal unlike any of my other ones. I have to admit… it’s my fav. Now I’m starting on my second one – it’s extremely addicting 🙂 Thank you so much for creating this class and making it easy and fun to follow. YOU ROCK!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next…
-Susan Elliott
Hi, Mary Ann–I am immensely enjoying this class, and just blogged about it today! I love the sheer abandon of just grabbing stuff, saying, “Yeah, it’ll work” and then sewing it down! Thanks for this class! Wishing you the best!
